but wasn't Max using the more loaded wing ?
think he swapped to medium load for FP2
ok, after first run on medium I heard a team radio of him asking to change back the wing, I think that they did not do it, right ?
I'm pretty sure that radio message was about the front wing. They showed the team changing it before the medium run and subsequent radio message. Not sure they'd have time to change a rear wing during a session.

Max
"We just tried a few different set-ups out there, trying to find tune a little bit but at least I think the day itself was a bit more normal without any issues so that's what we were hoping for.

The upgrades are nothing too big but so far everything is feeling normal."

He probably overcooked it a bit early in the stint, see compared to Norris on the soft. Softs have been the best race tyre the past couple of years here, especially if the conditions are a bit cooler.

I don't see anything to write home about. Poor balance. Poor tire deg. Perez with the "correct" wing was no better. They will be chasing Mclaren.

If anybody is interested about what's happening on the Red Bull Campus in Milton Keynes:
Images reveal the new location for their windtunnel, as it was revealed in Oct.2023 that they've changed the original plans for the windtunnel location because a better option has emerged (https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/new- ... /10537072/)

Here we can see where the new windtunnel will be located, really right next to the factory:

Are these current pictures? Can't see how they would possibly be in time to develop the 2026 car in the tunnel if so.

Bold.
As a Mclaren fan I think McLaren will be chasing Mercedes.

It’s a funny old sport

They are from April.2024
BTW it was never the plan to develop the '26 car in the new windtunnel. The '27 car will be the first fully developed in the new windtunnel.
They've lost half a year or so, because on the original location they had some initial objections from the UK Railway Network, and the local Council.

Marko
"With Max we are on the right track and on Sunday the grip on the track will change significantly, so you have to have a car that performs on Sunday. Max has already tested that, but we haven't managed to find the right balance.

We are not as far off this Friday in terms of setup as we have been in recent weekends and I remain optimistic."
Max
"We tried out different set-ups. On a day like that, you try to fine-tune a bit. It was a normal day without any problems, which is what we were hoping for beforehand."

Local councils  I'm not even British but their reputations precede them.

Why is this supposed package continuously being pushed later and later. It was supposed to come round 5-ish, then Barcelona, and now apparently it's coming next month.

They may want to see if those suspension and simulator correlation issues occur in traditional tracks as welll, or it's just being careful with the budget because of Perez's crashes imo

It was never supposed to come earlier.

Waché at the beginning of the season said that they would have brought 2 packages to Suzuka and Imola, and that's what they did.

Then it came DrObbs who announced a major update in Barcelona but after Canada he corrected himself saying that the same will be postponed, we know that he has contacts inside the team but he remains an "unofficial source", so still to be taken with a grain of salt (maybe its first info about Barcelona was wrong).

Red Bull is not like Ferrari who have their private PR in the italian press to which they pass solid info, we will always have to rely on direct quotes from the team or rumors from insiders.
