During a film day, they check whether everything is functioning properly. The most important thing is whether the data from the simulator matches the data on the track and luckily that was the case. In the sim everything was fine already.
In addition, it is very important for a driver to feel whether the car suits his driving style.
How does the car steer through the bends, how does the car react to the accelerator pedal.
You can always tell from Max's facial expression and body language how he really feels about it and it all looked very positive.
He was very pleased.

I think one of the better decisions from RBR was to do shakedowns. They only started in 2018. I remember pre-season testing prior to 2018, when they often were in the garage for quite a while to iron out gremlins in the new car.

RedBull was once Ford Jaguar which was once Stuart Racing bankrolled by Ford... so it's come full circle now.

"Marko positive on RB19 development: 'Everything is going well"
Max Verstappen was very positive about the RB19 after his first introduction. The 25-year-old Dutchman drove around 50 kilometres in Red Bull Racing's new car on Friday, with Sergio Perez accounting for the other 50 kilometres. Adviser Helmut Marko is also happy with where his team stands some one-and-a-half weeks ahead of winter testing.

On Friday 2 February, the RB19 was already presented to the outside world, at least the livery. We have yet to see the real car that Verstappen and Sergio Perez will race, and we will not see it until Thursday 23 February (the first test day in Bahrain).

In any case, Marko is happy with the progress that has been made. The 79-year-old Austrian states that Red Bull did not run into any crazy things last winter. " Everything is going well with the preparations, everything is on track," he explains to German F1-Insider. According to Marko, the car is now really finished on time, where Adrian Newey needed quite a few months last season to make the car even more than ten kilos lighter, for example.
Marko happy with Ford
At Red Bull, they are happy that negotiations with an engine partner for 2026 have now also been finalised. Ford will partner with Red Bull Powertrains to provide the powertrains over three years. The focus can now be fully on a good start to the season. "It's a good deal with Ford. I was in Detroit for it, the talks were good and harmonious from the start. We came to a conclusion quite quickly. For me, this has come full circle."

Why has come full circle? In late 2004, Red Bull took over the Jaguar Formula One team from Ford. It marked Red Bull's start in the top class of motorsport. At the time, negotiations took place in the UK and not the US. "Ford Europe's headquarters was there. It was the beginning of our success story. Therefore, you can really say: the circle is complete," Marko concludes.

Fascinating. Red Bull being “on time” should really terrify the competition. It’s terrifying to me atleasg…..they must have done a really good job.

What of the 2022 budget cap?
When will we hear if their interpretation was similar to 2021?
With the car ready and all, it's possible they had a lot of resources over the cap.

Probably midway through the 2022 season. Considering it was the first year and they said it'd take a bit longer the first time, and from what horner has said Re when to expect to hear in the AMuS interview , I would expect it towards the summer june-aug time

RB were 'only' 400k over the cap in 2021 and that's despite a few million in crash damage. In 2022 RB had the least crash damage of any team across the season (the only major-ish crash was Perez at Monaco) thanks to mostly running in clean air all season which probably means they could easily leave a bit of margin in the cap for 2022 with that money

Spending more doesn't mean the car is ready any sooner. Fewer component iterations, less wind tunnel time & fewer wind tunnel runs because of the penalty means it's possible for the car to be ready earlier into the off-season from actually spending less

If the RB19 is so similar to the RB18, then I wonder why we haven’t seen renders or any good photos yet. What’s there to hide?

I guess there are teams that had loads of crashes and lost millions in car damages that are also trying extra hard to overcome the performance deficit, that probably are more concerned at this point for the cost cap.
