Good idea as it serves no purpose being in the McLaren team thread does itGround Effect wrote: ↑04 Apr 2019, 10:33At this rate, the Sainz/Verstappen incident will require its own thread.
They'll bring upgrades regardless but it would definitely hurt their WCC position. Although, the Mgu-K fix is on both Mcl34s and Renault did significantly upgrade their facility recently at Viry which should help them with better simulation and quicken upgrades/mitigations; so there's that.max_speed wrote: ↑04 Apr 2019, 12:29I guess after a while sainz got chance to have a duel with verstappen and got excited a bit. As rosberg said, i guess sainz will learn his lesson. Lets move on.
My another worry is renault. I feel engine reliability might hurt mclaren's speed of bringing updates. We need a fix from renault asap.
Other changes are afoot at McLaren with the news that John Allert, the chief marketing officer of the McLaren Group, is now doing a new role with the Bahrain–Merida Pro Cycling Team, which is now half-owned by the McLaren company. There is a new chief commercial officer at McLaren in Mark Waller, A British executive who worked with big companies such as Gallaher and Guinness before joining the NFL in 2005 to develop the US football league’s international business. One presumes that his job is to bring cash into the F1 team.
Thanks for that, wasn't aware the fix was on Lando's car as well, I was worried he's was a ticking time bomb. Is there any info on the consequences of said fix? i.e has performance of the component been dialled back a bit?M840TR wrote: ↑04 Apr 2019, 12:39They'll bring upgrades regardless but it would definitely hurt their WCC position. We probably won't get such a key piece of info but the speed-traps suggest all is good.Ground Effect wrote: ↑04 Apr 2019, 13:17Thanks for that, wasn't aware the fix was on Lando's car as well, I was worried he's was a ticking time bomb. Not much left for Zak to do...
McLaren thinks it is too much to expect it to be able to regularly battle Red Bull from now on, despite its promising performance in the Bahrain Grand Prix.
I guess that if they lose a front wing or several parts of the body get fire damage, their build capacity will be eaten up by ensuring they have adequate spares for a race.M840TR wrote: ↑04 Apr 2019, 12:39They'll bring upgrades regardless but it would definitely hurt their WCC position. Thanks for the link. Really enjoyed watching it.M840TR wrote: ↑04 Apr 2019, 20:32Norris Bahrain start - Lap 5 Onboard. Car's a monster in exit & braking. Not a good launch though. I've noticed he doesn't move around as much during the formation lap to warm up the tyres; maybe it's because of that.
