Man, poor Charles can't catch a break this year (if this analysis is accurate). Looks like he caught a slick spot just at the start of the Singapore GP. Looks like it caught Hamilton, and Alonzo as well. they both got passed at the same spot:

It was clear from the first overhead replay, to be honest... Best evidence was reaction time, it was the same both for Checo and Charles, but 0-200kmh time was a lot slower for Leclerc.
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

Some tines I wonder if Alonso for example would have "tested" the grip level during the formation lap and would try to mitigate the lack of it somehow...

Hard to mitigate, could be more gentle on throttleapplication to reduce the whee spin but Perez would have gained meters in that situation anyway. Probably wouldn't change the outcome just have made it tighter.

Probably. But I was thinking more about a deliberate wheelspin during the formation lap to clean the area, the more gentle throttle application, different line etc

Alonso had a terrible start as well. You can't change the laws of physics.

This was my point. All three on that side, LEC, HAM and ALO got passed fairly easily at the start. And these are 3 of the top 4 or 5 drivers on the track today.

Very close quali, more so then most would predicted and surprising that Leclerc lost his two tenths advantage in the final sector (although apparently he used up the tyres in S1 & 2 so they were gone in S3).

Is this the same as we’ve come to expect - ie a strong quali but using up tyres too much in the race? Or is the new floor actually delivering a step change in performance, given we didn’t expect this to be a strong track for Ferrari?

I guess we’ll see. It seems like the car might be a little less stiff as seemed to be riding kerbs more (not without issue but still) so in principle this ought to help. Interested to hear the thoughts of others though.

Think Ferrari have been flattered by verstappen's bodywork falling apart on his final run. His final fp3 and first Q3 lap were both a couple tenths ahead, and then he lost his rear brake duct cascade and still almost improved.. so quali probably ended up closer than it would've otherwise

So I think this is an important factor to consider. Relative to Perez, Ferrari are not especially far ahead of where they would expect

That said, the car seems to find a balance easier with the new floor and also runs more stable. Onboard with Sainz looks as smooth as Verstappen with respect to bumps/porpoising. That should help with the tyre deg and kerbing

I think we all know a driver change is needed in Ferrari. Among other things
