It was a princess dress. And that means its for princesses to wear. A male cant be a princess. He would be a prince. So boys don't wear princess dresses.
There's nothing to stop a boy doing it, and no one is saying boys CAN'T wear princess dresses.
Its no different to saying Cats don't eat Dog food.
It's substantially different. A cat biologically can not digest dog food - it doesn't have a high enough protein content, since cats are true carnivores, and dogs are omnivores.
The point being that one of these is something that biology determines can't happen. The other is something that society choses to make fun of.
I 100% agree with you that nobody should be allowed to tell you, within reason, that this is what you can or can't do. But I also think there is a militant response to this type of stuff whereby anyone who says anything against it is positioned as a horrible person.
Hamilton caught a lot of stick for joking around and making a passing comment with someone he clearly loves and generally has a very positive relationship with. There was no need for the backlash he received. When something isn't malicious, I believe in education over criminalization.
But more on topic.. I thought I was a McLaren fan. My first real memories of following F1, other than the Schumacher V Hill dramas, was being a bit Coulthard fan watching him drive a McLaren. I then sorta stopped following it seriously, and picked up again as a McLaren fan when Hamilton won in 2008. Then when Sky Sports F1 was created, it turned me from a passive fan to a bit of an OTT fanatic who signs up to F1 Technical forum despite not understanding 90% of the content.. but hey I get to learn, right?
When Hamilton left, and Perez was outcast, I realised I'm not a McLaren fan. I had the typical nationalist fanboyism towards Coulthard, then just really enjoyed watching a young, aggressive driver like Hamilton. If Hamilton would have stayed, I'm not sure if I'd have found myself becoming a McLaren fan or if I'd just have deluded myself in to thinking I was.
