Red Bull RB18 Speculation Thread

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

now who would have thought, at and rb with same concepts... im sure the other teams will love this...
It’s a dangerous position, if they’re allowed to pool resources that area denied other teams under a budget cap it effectively gives them double the development resources of all other teams. I can’t believe red bull would make this mistake, or FIA letting it go. The sport would be dead.

Maybe it’s just me, but does the angle of the halo look weird on the RB to anyone else? It seems a lot more horizontal than the AT or any other cars we’ve seen. I have absolutely zero clue what kind of regulations define the halo geometry but that’s just something I noticed, especially compared to the AT render.

Or it’s just to do with the image quality ?

Halo is spec, except for a 10mm aero cover around it. Its angle is mostly defined by the rake of the car.

The only thing between the RB and AT that looks the same is the shape of the top of the side pods. It is definitely not the same car.

The video from which the more clear, close-up still was taken. Unfortunately it is still in low quality but this may be the best we get

It's just the other mirror, just like on the AT, the low res image makes it look like one part.
___________

I guess the 9s video is from the other bloke ... judging by that 2s video there's nothing weird going on with the shark fin

They sure look to be rectangular. Good catch.

Some good images might show us all kinds of goodies we can't see.

That's under heavy aero load though. So we can't judge the rake from that image.

Endplate wingtip does seem to be clipped.

The white mobil logo on the front endplate make it look clipped/rectangular.
The car design looks very similar to the AT indeed...

Halo is a mandated part so there can be no variation between teams
