All that has to do with the power train, gearbox, clutch, fuels and lubricants, etc. Generally the mechanical side of Formula One.

Copying the mercedes engine with 7 tokens?
or would they need 7 more tokens to copy?
Are they trying to copy?

Not "copy" but "incorporate" the features they need from the Mercedes engine.

He said this today......
"In terms of performance, I think we need to still unlock a lot of performance in the engine because we ran, let's say, a little bit conservative now to have the reliability,"
Well, we don't know anything about the Honda PU. All we know is that ALO is playing and messing around.
I really don't think Alonso is playing or messing around by making these statements, more to the point what would he gain playing and messing around as you say?

I can't ascertain what the claim is.

I think that claim is inline whit Alonso saying they were in conservative mod in testing.

It's probably easy enough to figure the layout of the Mercedes Power Unit by now (plenty of photographs for engineers to look at). What you probably can't figure out is the software and fuel/lubrication part of the Mercedes Power Unit.

Fixing their deployment, or lack of, and boosting power by another 30hp is a significant leap. That alone should be worth close to a second a lap, track dependent. Unless the 30hp gain is a qualifying mode type of set-up, like what Mercedes has been using. Then it'll only help close the gap during qualifying.

30HP is quite substantial, but it won't exactly give you a whole sec/per lap, lol.

The precise shape of the combustion chamber is critical.

How in particular? Where you place the injectors in relation to the intake valves? Valve seat geometry? Pent roof geometry? Piston crown? Structures on the piston face? Exhaust runners and ports? Spark plug angle? Multiple spark per cycle timing? Narrow spray injectors, with extremely high boost to prevent fuel film and wall quenching?
