I agree with ALO on the one hand, on the other hand thats also a bit marketing. It was no top Q3 from him quite obviously. In my opinion the prime example in his 2nd career when OCO outqualified him. Mostly quicker in Q1 and 2, but a bit too error prone in Q3.
He's always had a car that wasn't capable of pole in his 2nd career....
Sound like he said that he is already at 100% in Q1 and Q2 then there just isn't any more to get in Q3. So he's pushing the car beyond it's limits.
Possibly damaged floor too in Q3.
Alonso in Q1 did a 1:26.108, Lance did a 1:26.504. Then Alonso did 1:25.593 in Q2.
People who complain about Alonso being old/washed etc need their heads examined. He is crushing it with the car he has.

Agree.

I think the car is just slow. It's improving, that's true. But it's still slow. Alo is doing a fantastic job, as he's always did.

if anyone is showing their age, its stroll. and im being serious. when your brain isnt in it, you get "old" real fast in f1.

maybe these cars are just too complex for him. you try driving around one problem area, only to run into another one because the aston car has been so screwed for 2 years. after a while, the dude is probably giving up. not that he was ever very solid every week. now hes just slow everywhere.

either that or alonso is god

i think its slow compared to where we all want them to be. its a mile ahead of where they were a few races ago. and its a lot easier to watch than it was up until IMOLA. thank god we havent had to watch them bring downgrades again this season.

I agree that Q1 and Q2 were very good, as I said, no doubt. But I think the comparisons with one of the worst drivers of the grid are useless. Same for RUS this year, gets a lot of praise, but come on, ANT is nowhere and therefore no real comparison, this guy sits in the Merc seat way too early..

From the weather (I'm from the UK), looking like it will at least be damp to start the race if it doesn't continue to rain once the race starts

Alonso on the new package “ On Friday, we had some doubts about the analysis, and during FP3, we even considered sending out one car with the updates and one without. Nevertheless, it always takes two or three races to understand the effectiveness of the improvements, to adjust the heights correctly, the softness of the suspensions… So if the new package performs the same or better than the previous race, then it has potential,”

There is more potential than what we saw

I think this is a process that can be improved a lot with better sim correlation.

They need to be arriving with new parts and knowledge of how to set up the car for them.

Yeah would be surprised if he didn’t have any damage after that first run in Q3

Do you think they wouldhave lewt the FIA look at the car if they had damage? You think the FIA would have wanted to look at the car if they had damage ?

Agreed, I think the only way RBR comes to Silverstone with the config they have is with a SIM. Also the improvements RBR keep making on Saturday over Friday is because of the SIM.

Stroll's pitstop strategy worked. Now he can pit for rain tyres
