Ferrari F10

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Something I notice from that are the holes on above the suspension. What're they for? Are they going to have a different set-up or?
Yes. Tahts interesting. Maybe its a new system for nosecone fixing... I guess we`ll see what they assemble there during the first test.
Could it be any access for a ride-hight-adjusting device?

Come on, it's just a printscreen of an overloaded livestream :P
Sorry, i really meant no offence, its just hard to discern any details in that res. although if you look at the hi res photos from top down you can see the hole in the difuser. its just infront of the rear wing.

We really need to see it with the real wings :) not last years bolt ons.

Compare the complexity of that front wing with Merc's Brawn front wing from end of year.

Seeing it for the first time just now!!! :P :P :P

Gosh it's beautiful, it's what the F60 should have been. Looks a lot like it too.
First thing that comes to mind for the regulation changes is the length from the cockpit and back and the high nose and splitter.
For Sure!!

DO you mean oval? For the non-USA part of the planet, a football is circular ;)

ps - I've nothing against variations in language, but in this case, it was bit confusing.

The side pod shape is copied from BMW's car. The design was one of those solutions spit out by the ALBERT supercomputer. I am not sure of the advantages of such a shape, but it seems to keep the air from washing to the sides and channels it under the wing.

The pic is big so I'll just post the link.

So is it really longer than last year's car? and i don't mean wheelbase, but overall length. I thought length was restricted, or is it just width?

In whitch the B spec car that was used from Valencia onwayd did not have so pronounced, as what the F10 has. Also the Williams FW31 had a simmilar sort of thing on its launch spec car, then was ditched for the first third of the season in 09, then re apperared for the rest of the season in a truncated form hybrid with the other less pronounced version but was excluded for the high speed races that needed less drag.

One major part of the car that will be developed is the high nose concept, altho Ferarri need to get a new front wing for it as it looks to be the one that finished the season.

Ferrari F399 from 1999 had similar side pods.

I think the front and rear wing's will be different at the first test. The diffuser will probably be the same as they did not display the diffuser in the launch. I thought that there would be more air directed to the inside of the wheels as they are more narrow this year.
