still slow on straights :!:

In the DRS zones they are equal in top speed. It's only without DRS where they are slower.

For the time loss along the straights, it's likely that the floor damage was costing corner exit speed which carries all along the straight.
Check the 9-10-11-12 in the same trace. RB20 significantly faster in the high speed, despite damaged floor. In every single slow or medium speed corner in this trace (I dont think it's going to be any different even if NOR is added to this trace) , VER is braking late and having poor exit. I don't know whether that has anything to do with damaged floor (if the aero balance was ruined by the floor, the 9-10-11-12 would've looked bad anyway) , or is just a case of having a poor car in slow speed that refuses to rotate.

Top speed looks the same it's just compromised exits losing time down the straights.
Max went off track in Turn 9 and sustained damage that was around 100 points of downforce. The mechanics did what was possible in this short time in terms of repair.

For the rest, we made some adjustments to the wing settings and so we were able to reduce the damage to around 20 percent for the final part of qualifying. And then P4 is thrilling."

If you repair most of it and bring it to 20, a 20 point downforce loss is around 1/1.5 tenths, considering that the new floor Marko said is worth 10 points or in his words half a tenth. So a P3 could have been on the cards.

Think that Marko undersold it. 0.025s per point is about right

So by that calculation Max would have a tenth on George and had a pole position

Could have been, if not for getting caught out by the rain, and also in that moment, he almost made it to stay on the asphalt. Agh.

Small point but the downforce loss is only 1 issue. The loss of balance is the second issue.

And driver confidence is the third issue.

Max said that a couple of strakes were missing from the floor

https://dubz.link/c/c0a6e8
Max Verstappen to Viaplay: "At first I lost 100 points of downforce, and they were slowly able to bring it back a bit. but when you look at the floor, it doesn't look good. A couples of strakes are already missing and a bunch of holes in the floor. So, I'm actually happy with P4, to be honest"

I don't know if this 100 point story is true, but if it is, man that Q1 lap is out of this world.

I was thinking the same earlier but in a slightly different context. For those who finished behind Ver in Q1, it is a sobering figure.

2.5s according to previous members suggestion of 0.025 a point.

If you give Max a second in Q1 he’s still P3/4
Just a fan's point of view
