Will sf-26 do more than 100 laps on Thursday ?
Don't see why not, it did over 120 laps the first day and most of that was in the wet

Lewis on the shakedown today:

“It’s nice to get out in the dry and do some running, our first day was in the miserable wet weather. It was good to get out and kind of see (…) get some running and understand the tyres, we did the C2 and the C1. So cold that the tyres weren’t really working too much but, got through our programme and a bit of an understanding where the car is at and where we need to improve.”

In response to a question about whether they are where they wanted to be after this test:

"I don’t know… When you come to the test you always want to get a lot of mileage, today I did 85 laps in the morning, which is amazing and that’s really down to all the people back at the factory who have done such a great job on the car, so far it’s really reliable. Last year we had a worse start to testing so this is actually – considering a completely new band of rules, it’s better than what we’ve experienced in the past so I’m really hopeful that continues.”

He says what Mclaren said. It’s too cold for those tires to really learn anything.

When during the season Mercedes only works in cold conditions, we'll know why :D

Too cold for the C1 and C2 tyres yet they bring 16 sets of them and only 3 sets of the C3 tyres #-o

It really doesn’t matter if they’re not focussing on lap times. It’s about more about understanding the PU and the overall integration of the car.
Bahrain will be where it properly begins

The difference between C2 and C3 is 5C, and same for C1 and C2. Mercedes brought mostly C1 and C3, no tires are close to their operating of, checks notes, 90C... Tough start of the year for this team thread.

The PU looks to be extremely reliable at the moment. That's the only thing we can say right now.

With the exception of Audi, all power units seem to be showing good reliability at the start of the season, including Red Bull-Ford, which is very good for a newcomer.

But anyway, it's possible the engines are not yet being pushed 100%. And the cold weather in Barcelona is not something the teams will encounter during the season. I believe that in Bahrain, the teams should push the engine harder, especially in the last days of testing, and the hot weather there will be decisive for properly testing the power units.

You are indeed right. The real reliability test will the first few races.
Still very few issues for now which is still a huge positive.
