The craziest part is that most of the updates that we are seeing today probably started been designed at least a month ago, with the time required for design, validation, CFD / Wind testing and manufacturing, it’s amazing how sometimes they are already working on the next evolution even before the data from the current one comes from the track... I’m sure that team wouldn’t have brought such a big package to Barcelona if they wouldn’t have a high level of certainty that it will be perform as expected... FP1 and FP2 will be definitely interesting (shame they are way too early for me to watch live!)PhillipM wrote:Hopefully, updates on the car will be more regular now too, teams very happy with the correlation and setup from the first few races.
It's really impressive to see, great that they had the foresight to stock up on C1's. What country do you reside? I'm been prevented from watching by a great big pay wall! F1's too rich for my blood where I am.SmallSoldier wrote: ↑09 May 2019, 22:03The craziest part is that most of the updates that we are seeing today probably started been designed at least a month ago, with the time required for design, validation, CFD / Wind testing and manufacturing, it’s amazing how sometimes they are already working on the next evolution even before the data from the current one comes from the track... Yes, lots of them in the MCL34 car threadDarth-Piekus wrote: ↑09 May 2019, 23:09So are there photos of the technically new car to compare with the pre Spain version?
This is a picture that uses the renders to compare the new package... Will give you an idea of most of what has been broughtDarth-Piekus wrote:So are there photos of the technically new car to compare with the pre Spain version?
i agree. the argumant that alonso doesnt do well against "competitive" teammates is a no go. when was the last time any teammate was truly competitive against him? 2007 was the one year i guess, and hamilton had put more test miles on that car than anyone ever, in history. literally. nobody ever seems to remember that, and they just throw out that alonso was beaten by a rookie. alonso was in a new team, against a british driver that had been driving the car for a year before alonso sat foot in it. hamilton did great, and fernando could have handled the pressure a little better, but hamilton had cards stacked in his favor. i suspect that if he was to come back it would mean that they expect more out of next years car than they are letting on.Alonso Fan wrote: ↑09 May 2019, 20:23I know this is completely off topic but I couldn't resist...
When is the last time alonso had an 'off' day, when he was completely and comprehensively beaten by his teammate in the weekend? Hardly ever. Maybe only once or twice since back in 2007.
Now how often does hamilton have his 'off' days? At least 2 or 3 times a year. Rosberg did it often and sometimes bottas does too.
Imo alonso might be slightly slower but his is an awful lot more consistent
The well documented reason he's not in a merc ferrari or red bull now is because of hamilton, vettel and verstappen. None of them would dream of letting their team sign alonso as their teammate.
Yes I agree maybe he's hard to manage but that didn't stop Toyota or andretti.
That's usually a given with a team like McLaren. They always bring updates for both cars, so no issues there, in practice the drivers might run different specs (old and new), but that's just to test and for correlation. If the updates work as intended, both drivers will have it on their car come qualifying.
Similar pattern to preseason testing._cerber1 wrote: ↑10 May 2019, 12:482 and 3 sector is not very good
