The 2005 F1 season began at a very civilised 11am in Melbourne on Friday, March 4th. Günther Steiner, our then Technical Director watched on from the pit wall as the three Red Bull cars headed out around Albert Park. History does not record how happy he was to see the first practice session end with the RB1 top of the timesheet, half a second clear of the competition, courtesy of Tonio Liuzzi setting a time of 1:25.967. Red Bull Racing were off and running.
The newly-minted Team Principal Christian Horner would certainly have been happy two days later to see both cars come home in the points, with David Coulthard fourth and Christian Klien seventh. ...............

Then Honda will develop the engine being a third party for 2022 season? Also, which will be the PU brand? Mugen?
This fits my suggestion about a third party (with Honda and RBR connected) to provide the engines.
Mugen? Don't think so. Honda denied they would be part of a solution.

honda wants to allocate sources deployed to f1 right now to other areas. in case if they'd postpone it, no need for rebranding. i think they'll stick with current naming.

Pirelli increase the minimum tyre pressures. ---> Less grip?! #-o
Last night it was raining on the circuit. Now it's damp, track is half wet and half dry.
Track 12 degrees, air 14 degrees.

the front right had a very heavy wear on fp1-2. they had a concern it could be damaged on the race as grid gets more grip.

Well that was a shot in their own foot. Stopping for inters while purple on 2/3 sectors, and then getting out in traffic.

Anyone knows what times Max put in with the full wet in S1 and S2 before aborting to pit for inters?

He improved 1s in S1 and 1.3s in S2. So if we take a 1s improvement in S3 we get around 3.3s improvement on his second wet lap in Q3. This would be around 0.7s (edit. around 1s) slower than his final lap on inters, but who knows how much more time was still in those wet tyres. I'd say quite a lot.

Max said he had to go to inters himself in the post qualy interview on ziggo. It was just unfortunate the track dried out just enough and RP was on the inters earlier. Also max was stuck behind Kimi on the wets. Just heartbreaking he lost the pole here. He was so much quicker then anybody else up to that point.

Verstappen probably doesn't see the bigger picture yet at the time of this interview with ziggo. There's just too much stuff happening at once in a session like that to be fully informed so soon after quali and before any debrief. He was on for pole on wets 100%.

Well. I don’t think so. But if he was he was being very curtious and not throwing the team under the bus which is always a good thing.

I too believe that Max could have got pole on Wets, but hindsight is 20/20 I guess.

In the meantime, Stroll was summoned by the stewards for a possible yellow flag infringements during his fastest lap.

I was surprised they pulled him in for Inters. He was so quick, he coukd have easily got pole on wets. Team saw Perez's pace and thought it was a big opportunity. They were absolutely right in the situation. He could have got pole still if he would have created gap with Raikkonen. He lost time and opportunity there. He deserved the pole today and it's OK for him to be angry. I am sure the debrief would comfort him.
