Its of no surprise to me. This 40kw would have been in place from the start of the year, but simply was not reliable and not brought forward to the fia to be homologated. i don't think they found that power overnight; its been a long time coming.

What an utter let down. And I blame the pit strategists entirely.
Gasly arguably too hard on the tyres early on after the pitstop. But the stop strategies need looking at. Absolutely disgraceful.

The real reason is lack of race pace - even with good pits it seems FI would've been able to overtake Gasly, he was almost 1sec/lap slower than them after the pit
I hope they address this strategy issue. I actually hope the drivers publicly call it out so it's drawn into focus. This has happened far too many times. Not pitting the damn cars.
Agreed Gasly pace drop off towards the end was extreme as well.
I don't know what is the stupidity that the team behave with in delaying the pit stop ? They just lost time every time they did it and now they lost some points to FI and Renault
That stupidity must be removed . They just waste all the efforts was done by the Japanese and the team
While it may have eclipsed Renault in the peak power stakes, I think the Honda is still the worst in "sustained power" engine mode. The Renault has poor peak power production, but good recovery, while Ferrari and Mercedes are in a another league altogether.
The other issue is the integration of the PU and chassis. I don't think Toro Rosso have ever got on top of this, so their tyre wear has usually been higher than average. This is not helped by the drivability of the Honda engine, which likely contributes to excessive tyre wear.
