Lewis Hamilton has won the British Grand Prix for the fifth time in his career. Valtteri Bottas finished second after a late race charge while both Ferraris dropped down the order following left front punctures close to the end. Raikkonen salvaged by completing the podium.
People keep repeating that Ferrari had the best car since the beginning of the season. A simple look at the qualification numbers will tell it is not the truth. Hamilton will not have driven out of his skin every time to get all the pole positions he got this season,
Mercedes were shocked to have had Hamilton on Pole in Canada. Yes, the driver makes a difference.

There are no points given out on a Saturday, Ferrari definitely had the best Sunday car early in the year.
Look at the W04 , was so good on a Saturday, and was way off the winning car on most sundays.

At least on the previous page I have read more people laughing at Ferrari than any supporter..
I think the idea of Ferrari having a truly good car was a dream. This season is looking more and more like 2012s season, but unfortunately for Vettel he has not the same gap. Once Mercedes has brought a big update and solved their tyre management problems they have been dominating ever single race with the sole exception of Monaco. Only some drama has made possible to see other winners rather than Hamilton.
The ferrari car is still competitive if we examine the facts: Vettel got held up by max negating his supersoft pace compared to Bottas in the first stint.
If Vettel was in front of Max he would have passed Kimi and be running in clean air more or less.
After his first pit stop Vettel would not have no threat of the undercut and he would prepared his tyres on the outlap much better the result of this being a nailed on fight for the win with Hamilton.
I think ferrari fans are clearly overreacting. Watch how close it will be in Hungary.
Relax guys. The ferrari can still beat the mercedes. Vettel just had a really poor race. Kimi had ok pace and was still close to lewis for most of the race with engine issues.
I think next race vettel will be challenging for front row. Q3 here shows that ferrari have improved. They have not fell back at all.

Define close, because 12 seconds to me isn't close, not least when Ham pulled that gap comfortably while protecting his tires and not risking the race while the pace Kimi held also caused his tire to de-laminate. Ham was cruising for a large chunk of the race and Bottas was closing in on Kimi despite starting from 9th.
All the issues Merc had are no more. No tire issues, no aero issues in slow corners, NOTHING.
Ferrari are out-developed again. We'll see in Hungary but it looks like they have to work extremely hard during the summer break.
To be fair to him, full right lock was to catch the rear of the car and prevent a spin. But he shouldn't have gone onto the grass in the first place, which was the cause for the whole mess. If he doesn't pull something really, really special off in the second half of the season, his days are numbered.

Education is that which allows a nation free, independent, reputable life, and function as a high society; or it condemns it to captivity and poverty.

Well...well... well... The grand plan of Ferrari to swap the drivers came to a naught once Bottas was at Vettel's tail. Kimi was maintaining a 4.5 second gap for a long time thinking it would be an easy swap. But as soon as Ferrari realized that, both position would be compromised as Bottas came in, Bingo... Kimi opened a big gap and by the time Bottas cleared Vettel, the gap was 8 seconds!!!

The problem is, they are not really allowed to work during the summer break, at least that's the intent of the rules.
