I just saw qualifying and refrained from listening or seeing anyone that knew about it. Can someone please tell me what the hell was going on between Alonso & Magnussen? 25 years of watching racing and I've not seen two blokes from separate teams squabble like that in the midfield and then behave like children after that?
That was ridiculous from Alonso:
Instead of going for slipstream as everyone else, Alonso was trailing along before parabolica. So Magnussen overtook him and got a nice gap to the car in front. Alonso would simply need to use a usual Q pace through parabolica and would have had a good gap as well.
Instead Alonso stepped immediately on the pedal and tried to stay as close as possible to Magnussen. Then overtaking attempt into turn 1.

The worst part in turn 1 and 2: Alonso locked his brake in turn 1. Instead of going straight he turned in, went over the sausage curbs and rejoined right at the apex of turn 2. There were already crashes and penalties for such a line at the race start. Rejoining on the apex of turn 2 is nothing else, but stupid or an intentional attempt to crash the car. I have no idea how Alonso can go with this without a severe penalty.

- Precisely, crash or out of the way (KM did) driving in Q just to ruin someone else's lap
- Imagine the outrage and penalties if it was against top 3 team driver. It's OK to do it to Magnussen though.
- Where is Whiting? His head in the usual place, that's where.

I think we wont here that order over the radio. It will already have been given behind closed doors. So If indeed Ferrari end up 1 2 today the chance that Kimi is 1 will be neigh on zero.

So Kimi can only loose because of team orders? Wow, he's the perfect racer.

Monza top speed wise 2018 cars are at post-2009 v8 level. They were a few km/h higher than 2013 because of the tow.

Alonso basically is saying to Magnussen who is crying like a baby now! - You create enemies on the field don't expect them to respect you afterwards

I haven’t said that, I even wrote in the event that Ferrari do end up 1 and 2. So it is not a question of only being able to loose due to team orders, but it is a question of (very likely) not being able to win because of team orders.

No worries, Thanks man, Lets see how the race plays out today, that first corners is almost/just as tricky as in Spa.

I'm rewatching quali now and just noticed that Hamilton's rear tyres were not covered for a good 40 seconds before his last run in q2. Why would they do that?
