Looks like track condition changes and Verstappen being clever with slipstream did the job for him :D

Merc much closer than expected. I was expecting Mclaren to look better.

Very tight between the Ferraris. Don´t worry Charles, next year is going to much easier.

Nice effort from Hulk once again

Tomorrow, Red Bull will stretch it´s legs, as always. The dream is over, back to reality.....

Nobody near Max

Game over
Nope. Leclerc's Q2 lap was faster than Max's Pole lap.

I think we might be in for a bit of a fight this season.

Didn't Leclerc also sneak a slipstream? One of the Ferraris did in the final run.

Again, very tight spread in Q3. At least quali is set to be exciting this year! Lets see how the race pans out.

This season would be absolutely alive right now if we all didn't know the RB's strength is in its race pace. If it's 2 tenths in quali probably 0.5 in race pace. Let's just hope the teams behind develop faster. But oh well! With everyone else stil being close, this season could still be a fun one.

Who had 29.2 for pole? Hands up.

I was 2 tenths off with 28.8-29.0 prediction, so quite close.

I was way off on my estimates….I’m embarrassed
This track is strange. 2016 pole was 29.5 and 2017 wasnt a whole lot faster, but was much faster on other tracks. Basically corners are over too quickly to make up time in high speed. Cars lose time in slow speed and on straights with their boat like behaviour.

Charles had this pole. His Q3 was not good. Hopefully Ferrari is set up more towards race pace this year.

I hate these QLF formats where the fastest time doesn´t grant you pole. Btw, the fastest qualifier ever´s team mates are having a great casual chat there while Max gives his interview

As James Allison put it, you give the old regulation cars more love, they went much more quicker :D. These cars seem to have a ceiling in one-lap pace.

I think race trim is quite good for these cars -- just very hard to compare.
