Warming up to his new team.

I do wonder.. if Russel gets the best out of w16 and comes 2nd or 3rd in wdc to the mclarens... would Totto have the conscience to dump him for Max?
Warming up to his new team.
He comes across as very mature for an 18 year old in his first season of F1, both in and out of the car. He looks comfortable in the paddock and on the race track and seems to be pretty happy to be there, unlike Lawson seems to have a real attitude problem, especially towards the media. I'm rooting for Kimi for sure.Farnborough wrote: ↑24 Mar 2025, 14:14Unusual coincidence that Andrea Kimi Antonelli forms the acronym AKA meaning As Known Asbananapeel23 wrote: ↑23 Mar 2025, 15:20Question:
Does Antonelli actually go by Kimi, or has his middle name just stuck in the context of F1? Everything I've seen seems to imply that Andrea is the name he actually goes by. Everyone, including Bono and the F1TV commentary team calls him Kimi though.
Does he go by Andrea or Kimi? Does anyone know?![]()
I feel he's completing his first steps really well. Seems to be on a tight leash in regard to driving pace and aspirations, rightly so in my view. If collectively the team around him can hold onto this initial phase, such that it effectively keeps him a little out of the spotlights, that makes for valuable conditions in which to find his feet. Looks like it's going according to a comprehensive plan, this should gently bring confidence and experience in to fruition.
Public interview too, seems very well grounded and balanced from the bits I've seen so far.
Looking like a good season for him.
Lawson set himself for failure it seems. He’s been arrogant for a while, saying stuff about Ricciardo on podcasts and responding to Yuki’s comments that are not even towards the guy.bananapeel23 wrote: ↑25 Mar 2025, 07:51He comes across as very mature for an 18 year old in his first season of F1, both in and out of the car. The toxic environment at Red Bull is leaking to their academy it seems.OverheatedTurbo wrote: ↑25 Mar 2025, 13:49Lawson set himself for failure it seems. As long as Kimi can continue to make decent gains in quali and his race pace is no more than 0.2-0.3seconds away from Russell. He needs to bring some big gains in his quali performance in the second half of the season. There are still doubts on Kimi’s quali pace. He mustn’t stagnate or his career might follow that of Nick Heidfeld’s.
A wild conspiracy theory from me, team trying to slow down Kimi so that he doesn't push too much and make mistakes, so they are de-tuning his engine a bitwunderkind wrote: ↑26 Mar 2025, 10:02As long as Kimi can continue to make decent gains in quali and his race pace is no more than 0.2-0.3seconds away from Russell. He 'knows'/thinks the Mercedes PU is going to be the best and wants two easy titles in 2026 and 2027 before Honda and Ferrari 'catch up'. He wants his team to have an era of "PU domination", just like 2014-2018. Words like 'silly and erratic' etc are just facetious.
Or maybe just a proper reaction to situation where someone saying hey guys we will have 5 years of this engine, then you invest money and people to this project, then they say oh maybe we will throw out everything you did after 3 years.venkyhere wrote: ↑27 Mar 2025, 14:11He 'knows'/thinks the Mercedes PU is going to be the best and wants two easy titles in 2026 and 2027 before Honda and Ferrari 'catch up'. Or maybe investing in a collective 500 million dollars on something that is going to be binned almost right away is "silly and erratic".venkyhere wrote: ↑27 Mar 2025, 14:11He 'knows'/thinks the Mercedes PU is going to be the best and wants two easy titles in 2026 and 2027 before Honda and Ferrari 'catch up'. He especially makes a much better impression physically than last year. You can see, that he is in shape now. That he was completely exhausted on several occasions in the past and often showed a surprisingly low pace compared to Ham was based on him being not really on top level with his fitness in my point of view. The collapse after the Spore race was the top of this issue, maybe also the last lap crash the year before.
Yeah. Let’s just not start with conspiracies please.maygun wrote: ↑26 Mar 2025, 12:34A wild conspiracy theory from me, team trying to slow down Kimi so that he doesn't push too much and make mistakes, so they are de-tuning his engine a bitwunderkind wrote: ↑26 Mar 2025, 10:02As long as Kimi can continue to make decent gains in quali and his race pace is no more than 0.2-0.3seconds away from Russell.
