Did Norris really have the changed wing? How come Piastri suddenly is a lot slower than him in qualifying pace?

Race pace looked similar for them. 20.xx

Ferrari lot better than McLaren in race pace (higher 19s). Only Max better but in lesser laps.
Piastri doesn’t give anything on Friday’s. He looks at the data & does improve a lot on Saturday FP3 & Quali.
Not really. Piastri topped practice sessions before and is in general second or third. Not this way down.

Something is off today.

Yeah, Race Pace was great. However, the Engine and Fuel are unknown.

Charles was saying, "looks good, no?, first time I heard that since FP2 Imola last year when the shark mouth intake debuted and the "6 tenth" gain. Trying to maintain hope levels as early days.
Didn't hear the radio but if Leclerc is happy, I am happy. Points is on Sunday. With the pit crew doing a great job, the team had added advantage there. Till car is fully sorted, this is all one can achieve. Lewis is there as well. Which is great.

Were able to activate the new soft compound on the first try, again. That on its own would be a huge boost going forward

FYI Norris and Piastri were running different RW specs (Piastri had a higher DF RW). It would explain the difference.

Yes. Race pace for them looks similar but Piastri nowhere in qualifying. Hopefully Ferrari will do better first sector with improved grip on track.

HAM has always been good around this track so I expect him to either be ahead or very close to LEC on Saturday

I agree. For me the most important thing from these sessions is if the drivers are comfortable in the car and right now they are. We just need to keep this level across different track conditions... We've had some weekends this season where come qualifying they suddenly couldn't figure out the tires. But I have more confidence when the drivers are vocally pleased with the balance.

We all know McL aren't giving 100% though so I'm trying not to be excited about results or how it impacts Ferrari compared to other teams. Just being happy about our own progress irrespective of others's. :D

There’s nothing to read in fp1. Everyone was putting in touches to balance the new wings.

We’ll see at the end of fp2 for better balance.

Yeah it's funny isn't everyone said that Mercedes would be hurt the most by this and Ferrari would gain... well look who has the worst balance. Has to be taken into account the W16 operates best on high speed circuits but alas it looks very balanced and the Ferrari looks like ---
