Mekies also addresses Red Bull's persistent problems. "We have a few underlying issues with the car. That is limiting us this year. We struggle with it more at one circuit than at another, and under certain circumstances, it flares up more than usual."

We know that if we fix this, there is still some lap time to be gained. So it really is an opportunity to improve the car. And of course, when you are in the middle of the battle, in this case for P1 and P2 against the two Mercedes, it is logical that something like this seems like a very big deal in the emotion of the moment.

It will be interesting to see if they can reduce it a bit already this year or if we have to wait for next year.
Suspension plagues them for quite a while now.

Any guesses what VCARB might be doing differently as they use the same gearbox and suspension?

I just think it's aero load. The Red Bull has more downforce and this requires a stiffer rear end to maintain balance stability. The VCARB is an easier car to drive because it can be run softer but its also slower because it has less downforce.

That makes sense. Hm...it would be nice if we could have pre-GE era suspension systems back.

Imagine taking the lead of a GP in this car and being unable to shake off Mclarens with 20 laps older tires...Then we must listen to people say "this track suited Red Bull and they were 2nd fastest"...

The more time passes the more the random Miami 2024 rumors make sense with respect to suspension, although I am sure two years is more than enough to understand what they lost by looking at others.

There has been an interesting change of approach by RB in the ADUO debate. Verstappen kept talking about straight line speed and the Mercedes engine during his interviews. Red Bull's social media accounts are now taking the piss about it as well.

In the latest Autoracer articles, the Ferrari engineers still provide a power deficit figure relative to the Mercedes ICE.

Do not believe the FIA's fabrication. Red Bull do not have the best ICE.

This sort of constant talk of ADUO is what Red bull should have done in the first place, instead they went cold and just said we are discussing with the FIA, these sort of battles you fight on all front, publicly and privately with the FIA, you have to keep the pressure on constantly, only when the noise around the subject becomes too much, and it's clear to the fans and everyone else that the FIAs process is farcical will they they be pressured into changing things.

Honestly, I thought their race pace was decent. Their deg however was not, so the pace could not be sustained. It might have been just Max pushing to the limit every lap like a madman though.

He caught a Merc tow train and rode it to a podium. Their SL speed was below average so the tow made all the difference. Cornering performance was alright until the deg set in. Per usual the car was worse on hards.
