the fastest car on the grid are most unlikely to top the per-season testing as the element of surprise during the first few fly away races are crucial.spadeflush wrote:I doubt whether any test will give a definite answer. Yeah, for me I think the most interesting information comes from observers who know what a good and a bad car look like. Even they can be fooled by car weights, tyres, etc. From what I've read here and there that would put RB and McLaren in a good place, possibly Renault as well (if it wasn't broke).
Haven't seen much chat about the Mercedes yet, regarding it's stability, breaking, etc, TBH. Still sounds like Ferrari need to do a bit more work on getting the setup of that fancy front end sorted.
In addition, teams can have breakthroughs between testing and the season proper. Take McLaren last year, for instance.
most probably, yes.CHT wrote:the fastest car on the grid are most unlikely to top the per-season testing as the element of surprise during the first few fly away races are crucial.spadeflush wrote:I doubt whether any test will give a definite answer. did you compare the drop off between button and lewis? Might be interesting to see who will have the upper hand this season when it comes down to tyres.JohnsonsEvilTwin wrote:The McLaren and Mercedes drop offs are near identical at 1.5 seconds after 16 laps.
The times distorted by the difference in fuel load.
