Alpine A522

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Bad news but even so, A522 doesn't look helpless. Still believe in Mr Fry.
But it amazes me why Alpine can't tame slow corners, having one of the shortest wheelbases and compact chassis.
Conservative carcasse shape.

Guess they're lacking mechanical grip.

From the pod cast, a good of what he does is looking towards the future. Looking for ways to make the engineers more efficient. He's still involved in getting the next upgrade out but not as focused as chassis director.
How is SA in terms of corners? Lots of 90° degs?
Not a right angle in sight

Turns 1 ,2 and 27 are what you'd consider Low speed.

I don't think they're cuts. Think they are more like designed opening if you look at them upclose.

They look like cuts to me, I remember seeing a picture of the team while they were actually cutting them during the Barcelona test

They're cuts, you've just highlighted the floor shadows. No openings.

The carbon at the beginning of the first "cut" seems quite bent and wavy

Think the "bent and wavy" is there on the 2nd cut. It's just not as obvious with the shark tooth shape that it creates. Up close you can distinguish between the marbled color of the ground and black carbon fiber floor. To me that floor is hollow (not an 2 cm thick).

Usual reminder... the next circuit does not belong in the car thread, neither does a comparison to Ferrari.

This is the official Alpine A522 car thread. The thread has been created to facilitate discussion specifically about the A522 car.

Please, ONLY discuss technical items of this car. Refrain from speculation.

General discussion about the team, its drivers and performance can be posted in the team thread.
