CMSMJ1 is right, the setup at RBR is just about optimal. All that they need is for Webber and Vettel to get a solid (read: reliable) car and they'll have their champ (Vettel) going for the WDC with their other driver - not necessarily running rear-gunner operations or anything like that - facing down the other teams' top drivers. I would like to see Hulk illustrate consistent racecraft before expecting him to overtake other drivers like Alonso WITHOUT crashing out.

2011:

Vettel: 11x Wins, 5x 2nd, 1x 3rd, 1x 4th, 1 Ret
Webber: 1x Win, 2x 2nd, 7x 3rd places, 6x 4th, 1x 5th, 1x Ret

Those podiums have meant that the other teams' drivers have to fight harder just to get on the podium.

It worked pretty well in 2011, there's no suggestion that they would want to change that unless they can keep that....formula.

Agreed. It may not be the most sporting, but it is the most practical, and the smartest. The best number two driver you can have is the one who is consistently 1 hundredth slower than the other driver no matter what.

Consistently 1 hundredth seconds slower = best #2 driver. Like ruben barachello, may be DC?
