Yes they look similar, but while I am no expect I think they are totally different functionally. The McLaren I think was focusing on getting air down to the exhaust blown diffuser and beam wing area. Louvres start almost at the start of side pods. Is it possible that these starting ones are not used for cooling at all, but rather just for air passing through for aero purposes?
By design I’m sure.. if they weren’t so wide it wouldn’t allow for that tunnel in the middle to be as effective
