Red Bull RB22

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Clearly doing something around the headrest where the “ROKT” sponsorship sits. There’s an outlet there too.

To me the airbox looks definitely a lot larger and a different shape than Red Bull used to have. Sidepods look super tight. Double bardgeboard stay similar to Ferrari.

Edit: Looks like there is an inlet between Rokt and Gate?

Front sidepod shape looks funky. Upper SIPS protuding from the bodywork?

The shoulder inlet remains from the RB21 but now with an outlet that is pretty sizeable, visible above the sidepods but also has a body panel that is perhaps hiding something.

The launch renders hinted at the minimalist sidepod.

Think that's just the shadow from the top edge, the inlet shape is pretty visible.

To me this looks like a tightened up Mercedes. Extremelly tapered bodywork.

But these angles with this weird lightning plays tricks on your eyes. Hopefully we get some shots from the track to judge better.

Can see there is exposed sis tube outboard of a fairly conventional inlet shape

The area behind halo looks like they've kept the halo inlets from the rb20 but without the full on W14 cannons

The LE profile of the fw endplate footplate is cool. Can see the two separate semicircular regions presumably housing a vortex

The impact structure stands quite far out. The sidepod seems very small in it's frontal cross section.

The upwashing detailing on the outboard face of the bargeboard is very nice. Similar concept to Mercedes it seems.

Diffuser cutout as is now standard.

The front wing is also aligned with mercedes/Ferrari direction.

The 'debris protector'/front brake duct detailing is looking really refined already

First sidepod cannon exits we’ve seen this year. What I alluded to in June (link).
