To us in Asia, Top Gear stopped being a car show long ago. Ppl on this thread mention car tests, comparisons, but our 20min edited version of Top Gear cuts most of it out, leaving only the stunts.
So yeah, TG really is a comedy show with a car theme. Like Phoenix says, if you want a car show, watch FG. But seriously, watching a Ford Transit going round the Nurburgring is entertainment gold!

While i grew up in the north
that is how people are in alabma i lauged my ass off
Me neither, I never meant to imply that I wanted to fight. Terribly sorry if I did. I only meant that the things you laugh at us about, we laugh at you about things as well. We are all weird/funny in our own ways. I also think that some of that may have been staged. People aren't normally like that here in the South. Only if you provoke them, which they did. But I doubt that was totally true.
Does everyone think I'm here to start fights? I'm sorry if I'm rude or whatnot. I mean no one ill feelings.
The most disturbing part of that episode, is when they drive down (as part of their challenge of traveling 700 miles across the deep South in a $1000 car/truck ) and end up in New Orleans. Even being in the wealthiest country in the world, it is still in the state as it was a year ago after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. The main aim of the challenge was to sell the cars, to see how much they make from it, instead they gave the cars away out of sympathy.
I know its arrogant, but that episode has put me off America.
Look, I know that TG is supposed to be an unscripted show, but more and more, it seems to me as though some of the things are done on purpose. If you have seen their Caravan adventure, you'll know what I'm talking about. If not, it should be on YT.
However, if by some miracle this wasn't set-up then, I'm sorry, but the blame rests with the woman and "her boys". Yes, the TG crew did provoke them with the graffiti on their cars, but the woman was well aware that it was for a TV show (she yelled at the camera crew), she knew that at least one of them was married and had kids, and she knew that they were foreigners. So, unless she was retarded, she should've known better than to get all excited about a few words.
P.S. The full episode is up (I'm watching it right now), but try not to leave direct links, as BBC has been working OT in getting them off YT.
Why are they working so hard to remove the clips? I haven't been able to understand why they take 'free', not cable, broadcasts off of a free website? What's so wrong with it being easily accessible?
If people could watch the best bits of an hour long show over the net they wouldn't bother to watch the program, topgear and the bbc would loose veiwers and no one would sponsor them with adverts anymore so they'd loose money too. In the long run it makes financial sense to spend time deleting all the videos.

But, Tom, it's not just the best bits they are removing. They are taking down the whole episodes. I firmly stand by what I said - if they had it here where I live, I'd watch it on TV. If they had the subscription for it on their site, I'd pay for it. I think that it is a great show, and I don't mind paying for something where I feel I'm getting my money's worth. Furthermore, unlike many shows that after a few episodes become boring, this show always manages to find a way to make it more interesting every week.
Ray, on BBC's website, you will be able to find some of their clips (actually, I found quite a few). However, the video quality of those clips, make my Commodore 64 games look futuristic, while the sound quality is like that off of a blown-out speaker.
Also, you won't be able to watch Top Gear News on their site, which, IMO is the best part of the show.
I really wish they'd stop taking them down...if nothing, at least they should leave some of the old episodes (i.e. from seasons 4, 5, etc.)

Thank you! My sentiments exactly!
I did not know you could watch them on their website, thanks for the info. I agree with everything you said, and if they would reinstate their coverage here in the great city of Atlanta, I would watch it as often as possible. I've already iterated my feelings on the general bashing of American cars, but the poking fun at Captain Slow never gets old. These guys always make the show interesting somehow, which is why I love the show so much.

Which would make sense if BBC had adverts.
For the BBC money is funded through television license fees.
OK, TG doesn't have commercial breaks but there are adverts before and after the show and subtle adverts during the show

Basically, it says that YouTube is in talks with CBS to allow its viewers to post clips from different CBS' shows. In that article, I found this paragraph:
Google, which agreed last year to acquire YouTube for $1.65 billion in stock, is currently working on a deal to offer video from the British Broadcasting Corp., the paper said, citing people familiar with the matter.
So, hopefully, BBC will allow YT to carry clips of Top Gear
