Both pictures above are not from the current test. First one is Suzuka and second one is British gp. The test floor is really different.

I'd start with, what would qualify as a B-spec?

Traditionally it would mean the upgrades could not just bolt onto the A car to make it go faster. That isn't the case here.

A B-spec is what McLaren did last year for example in my opinion. Radical change of concept.

Not exactly a big change for McLaren, it was all flow conditioning.
As for Aston Martin, The test run was cause they had filming day time left so they just wanted to see if the changes they made with the flow winglets in the Halo(which has been changed with the chassis) works well. The chassis structure has changed as well as the underfloor and Hunagry is an unusual track to test upgrades so best to get data from Silverstone.
