I dont agree, Knew LH on faster tyres, GR knew he was on out side, still trys to go round out side of Max, not giving his team mate a 2nd thought, or did, but didnt want to ceed position to LH knowing he cant challange Max any way and we all know GR's only ambition is to beat LH. Defo GR fault
Different strats, i cant imagine they didnt discuss how to handle it before the race. But then, mercedes struggle with communication
i think Lewis assumed Russell would stay behind Max knowing Lewis was on the outside on faster tires. That being said, Lewis could have given George more spaceMosin123 wrote: ↑08 Oct 2023, 19:29I dont agree, Knew LH on faster tyres, GR knew he was on out side, still trys to go round out side of Max, not giving his team mate a 2nd thought, or did, but didnt want to ceed position to LH knowing he cant challange Max any way and we all know GR's only ambition is to beat LH. Exactly. Lewis may have misjudged his line but I am surprised Russell fought him so hard given Hamilton was on much better tyres.
Not it in my opinion, it's george not using his brain as usual.
He ( LH ) should have left room, But given the different starting tyres and knowing your team m8 is on a faster tyre, He shouldnt have been trying to fight LH in the first place, on the first lap of a race, when his race is with the teams behind him, Not his team mate who is doing a different race strategy anyway.Luscion wrote: ↑08 Oct 2023, 19:32i think Lewis assumed Russell would stay behind Max knowing Lewis was on the outside on faster tires. George knew what tires, Lewis was on. Having run them yesterday himself, he for sure knew they had far better grip for the first turn. He knew Lewis had overlap down the strait. So no way a competent racing driver didn't know whats Lewis was going to do.
That's because at times like this Lewis is far to nice and diplomatic
Lewis also said it was a racing incident. He's choosing his words carefully as the incident is still under investigation IIRC.dans79 wrote: ↑08 Oct 2023, 19:54George knew what tires, Lewis was on. If he brakes like 1m earlier, Lewis clears him and sweeps around the outside of max. He then could have drifted wide got on the power earlier, and followed Lewis, and then pushed max wide into turn 2.

We never saw what hamilton could have done either. Russell had goid pace but his top speed with the higher downforce was atrocious and he couldn’t clear the alpines. I think ham could have been faster than that.
Where was George expected to go when he had his front wheel alongside Max's rear wheel?Shrieker wrote: ↑08 Oct 2023, 21:28George took Lewis out.
He must've know with the softs he was always going to take a chance and attack. But didn't think about backing off for a millisecond .
What a shame. Lewis could've closed a huge chunk on Perez for 2nd in the championship. And Merc would've all but cemented their place ahead of Ferrari.
