Transfer rumors "annoy" Red Bull
Well if they think that is annoying, I have a tip: Change your f*cking car!

Erik van Haren in de Telegraaf (Dutch newspaper): "It is game on around Max Verstappen, that much is clear. Within now and about a month and a half it will be clear whether the current number three in the World Championship standings will 'simply' continue to drive for Red Bull next year or will then switch to Mercedes.
Stories (read: rumours) about a deal between Verstappen and Mercedes are much too premature. That is not the case. Just like the multiple reports that the Dutchman can leave Red Bull for free, if that team is not in the top 3 among the constructors during the summer break. That too has been dismissed as nonsense by various parties involved for some time now."

"Verstappen indicated in May that the 'upcoming races' would be very important to him, also with regard to his future. Last weekend in Austria he said that he is still in that process. In summary: Verstappen wants to see that the considerably regressed Red Bull takes steps in the right direction and can make progress this month. Starting this weekend at Silverstone, where a new floor for the fickle RB21 will be introduced."

and more in Dutch here https://archive.vn/MDPzD

So Erik van Haren indicates: Verstappen is seriously reconsidering his options which could mean that he will switch teams if Red Bull is not able to improve the car. So next weekend could be crucial since a new floor will be introduced (as stated by Van Haren).

The speculation on the exit clauses is that it is activated at the summer break anyway, I believe, so still after Silverstone even if it looks to be triggered (or not).

If Red Bull wants to keep Max, just build a faster car to fight Mclaren in the last 13 races. Which isnt going to happen of course.

The same applies to Mercedes if they want Max, they would also have to do the same.

Looks like Max will influence the motivation of both parties to out develop and potentially outperform McLaren through the rest of the season. Which I believe is extremely likely even though it doesn’t look like it now.

If I’m making a prediction: Mercedes will be the first then Redbull after 2 or 3 races.

The thing is that horners presence in red bull and the engine regulations push max out of red bull

But is that really the case, we know that is Jos is against Horner, but is Max also?

It won't change the trend but I think, but I think its also a pretty shallow analysis too that can misrepresent things very easily, You'd want to probably identify all the updates made to the car and start to isolate where the gaps between Max and Perez opened up, Red Bull did mention their data they could identify (too late now) a bad development path where the car started a bad trend , probably that Max could handle it for a while papered over the tracks,

There was the talk that Newey didn't like the path RBR were taking last year, even outside that rumor,Newey in an interview with AM mentioned the exit or many senior staff over the years left them inexperience in some areas that provably caused some of the issues - bit of my paraphrasing in there obviously.

The trend if bad, and no doubt something that would be playing on Max's mind, if they could fix their current issues I think he might be content I am not convinced they have so I'd think that's the concern.

I think Max genuinely went into the season wanting and intending to try and win the WDC. I think his wins render his effort. He wanted to keep winning at RB. But the year is not going well and they are on a downward slope with 2026 looming and likely an underpowered power unit and a compromised aero team. He/we have seen careers thwarted by drivers hanging on too long believing the team will turn it around (Alesi at Ferrari, Alonso at Macca) and Max is not going to make that mistake. He is in his prime and wants to be in the right car at the right time. Now is his chance. If George were to win in 2026, Merc would not cut George and it would be too late. I really think he is leaving.
