Pages of analyzing if norris looked happy in the podium and its societal ramifications?
Seriously, wrong forum.
Back on topic, please.
Yep, watched his interview on Sky yesterday when he said thisMacklaren wrote: ↑08 Jul 2025, 20:51https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/why- ... /10740333/
Confirmation that the new floor works as expected and will be raced at Spa
I don't know what to say. It was my very first year coaching. The parents chose not to give them out based on my feedback, which was based on the players' objections. They checked with the kids, who confirmed that they did not like it. The "Mothers" were shocked, but they were fine as long as their kids were fine. I couldn't care less. The only thing I cared about was my MVP and Most Improved Player award. To be honest, I am baffled that you would think I would lie about something like this. I do not find it to be incredible either. I have never coached a team where they cared for either a Participation trophy or a "certificate of achievement." We gave that to my U10, and I found them in the trash can.Seanspeed wrote: ↑08 Jul 2025, 18:37It's completely and utterly harmless. I also dont for a second believe your story that kids less than 12 years old playing in some casual soccer league begged you to not to give them participation trophies. lol It's just not something that matters that strongly either way. The only way this at all happened is if you kind of put it in their head that they were bad from the start. 12 year olds will not think that hard about something like this and all stand together principled about something so innocuous. What a weird thing to lie about. lolPikeStance wrote: ↑08 Jul 2025, 15:39Years ago, and I mean years ago... I was coaching boys' soccer (Under 12). My players beg me not to give out our participation trophies. They said they are absolutely useless and embarrassing. My parents wanted to give them out, and it was a way too long conversation to convince them otherwise.Seanspeed wrote: ↑08 Jul 2025, 01:05You're acting like they're getting EQUAL medals and recognition as the winners, and that's just not the case. It's just some generic little medal/trophy or whatever to denote their involvement. This is good. Many people will actually look fondly back on what is essentially just a souvenir and memory snapshot of their childhood. Absolutely nobody is treating it like it's the same thing as winning. Everybody knows that. The kids know that. Why dont you?
F1 is a very serious competition. Of course at this level things are different. In no world is the situation remotely comparable to just some benign little kids league that get some $2 little trophies/medals at the end of the season no matter how they did.
This was back in 1994. I am shock there is anyone in the world who still thinks it is a good idea. I know I definitely did not want one as a kid either.
Again, nobody treats those trophies as equal to winning. This idea that they cause harm or weakness comes entirely from insecure fathers.

Looks to have a fairly unique edge wing details too and also which has become the norm for McLaren the bracket integration of the wing to the main floor body is absolutely sublime
I think is clear that is hard for Max to focus with all this mess around him. So I mean the car is obvious not responding to any upgrades RB is trying, the technical department lost huge knowledge with Newey departure, now Horner is sacked, Max is almost with one foot in Mercedes garrage..so all this indicate a 99% fight in the last 12 races only between Lando and Oscar for WDC. Cause for WCC Redbull, with "only one car getting points" was clear not a threat.
I think it is the exact opposite. You do not fire a man for 20 years unless keeping him puts you in a worse situation. Verstappen's exit clause may have been the factor for Horner's dismissal. Jos apparently did not get along with Horner and Max supposedly gets along famously with Marko.SilviuAgo wrote: ↑09 Jul 2025, 12:57I think is clear that is hard for Max to focus with all this mess around him. Elkann probably been on the phone already. Horner would be sure to attract a few RB engineers to follow him too.
I am almost sure Newey's contract has a 'no Horner' clause somewhere in it.
Do we know that Newey left because of Horner, or was he fed up with the internal politics within Red Bull?venkyhere wrote: ↑09 Jul 2025, 14:51I am almost sure Newey's contract has a 'no Horner' clause somewhere in it.
More likely "No Jos"venkyhere wrote: ↑09 Jul 2025, 14:51I am almost sure Newey's contract has a 'no Horner' clause somewhere in it.
Its well known that Newey has always wanted more say in running the team including hiring decisions, which he got at Aston. No way he will work with Horner again
