Perhaps Cowell's position as TP was only temporary to fill reshuffle with Krack.
Think he did say it was temporary. He said it was because they needed separation between the head of the track and the head of the factory. Prior to that Krack headed up both organizations. Enrico Cardile is heading up the Factory now so I guess that isn't an issue any more ?

Hadn't see this till now ....

Aston Martin has signed Marco Fainello, a former Ferrari engineer, as a senior performance consultant for their Formula 1 team.
This move marks Fainello's return to Formula 1 after a 13-year absence from the paddock.
The 61-year-old Italian engineer is renowned for his expertise in simulation systems, artificial intelligence, and vehicle dynamics—fields that have become increasingly critical due to restrictions on on-track testing.
He played a pivotal role during Ferrari’s dominant Schumacher era, serving as Head of Vehicle Dynamics from 1997 to 2004 and leading the development of Ferrari’s first driver-in-the-loop simulator in 2004.
Fainello’s appointment follows the hiring of Enrico Cardile, another former Ferrari technical director, who now serves as Aston Martin’s Chief Technical Officer and reportedly recommended Fainello for the role.

Great news if you are an Alonso fan. . . restructuring just before huge regulation changes. Additionally, Seidl would be bad news also. . . I don't think he's particularly keen about Alonso

This was expected. Newey pretty much said that in the interviews when he was hired. He said he did the same thing when he joined RBR. He'd watch people work and then got rid of the ones he found issue with, whatever those issues were.

Wasn't Horner one of the reasons Newey left Red Bull? Now maybe Horner coming to Aston Martin aswell.

Adrian Newey would not have a problem working with Christian Horner again, per ESPN F1.

Horner is understood to be a leading candidate to join Aston Martin.

Awesome, thanks.
But how quickly will Adrian identify the newcomers that need to be gotten rid of?

They say alot of this was about what happened with that woman at RBR. I think she was well known to Newey. I have no idea how or if they reconciled. Just what I read. Apparently they went to a Music concert together.

Newcomers ? I guess that's a living thing right? There will always be people leaving for a variety of reason who need to be replaced.

That case is not close yet.. It was previously announced that Red Bull would have to go to the British employment tribunal in January 2026, something the British media would not be allowed to report on due to an RRO (reporting restriction order). They hope that an agreement can be reached outside of the courtroom.

They needed someone filling that role for the time being.

I see Cowell as an interim replacement.
Cowell is better used and probably more interested in another role.

Newey is as a apolitical someone can be.

He only cares about performance and having a functioning organisation.

I doubt he's playing games.

Horner is a proven winner, knows how the game behind the scenes is played and would most likely be a great asset for AM if it goes that way. Or they need someone similar.

I don’t see anything wrong with this change ??

Cowell to the PU department where he has expertise
Horner to TP
Newey wherever he wants

Prior to coming to Aston Martin, Cowell took a long hiatus as he wanted to move up in the ranks of the F1 world. The CEO position was a step up for him, and I doubt he would see being "leader of the powertrain division" as anything other than a demotion. He will probably be moved to Aston Martin Performance Technology to remove his salary for cost cap purposes, until his contract expires.

Most here are excited about the sweeping changes in Aston Martin because they have been directed by Newey, but I worry that intellectual capital is being thrown away prematurely because of the desire for immediate results. Think about how this could discourage talented engineers from wanting to join Aston Martin as they are promised the world and quickly shown the door, whether justly or unjustly.

Could be a move from his management to pressure Ferrari. He is waiting them to give him a car for run at the title.

But if the Christian Horner rumours are true, then the door for Max Verstappen to join Aston door is definitely shut down.

Btw Aston Martin’s big move is Marco Fainello, way more important than getting a new TP.

I hope he can be operational soon.
