How great to see McLaren easily go through on one set of tires.

Red Bull and Ferrari used two (looked like that).

I think this qualy is a proof that McLaren has masterful temperature management, but if the conditions change significantly they fall out of the window.

They were super fast in Q1 and Q2 and then the temperature fell and they fell back. But still super dominant. It will be interesting race tomorrow.

Good job Leclerc!

Well done to the boys, car seems to have fallen out of the window in the last run. Amazing job by Leclerc and Alonso.

Track temp fell by around 20 degrees after the little rain shower. Must have moved the track out of the setup window.

Both the boys suggesting the wind switched 180 degrees.

You are very upset with McLaren, it is evident from your posts. The worst thing is that because of Verstappen's failure, you come here to let off steam. I feel sorry for you.

I'm not upset with Mclaren. I'm just pointing out that the car should be on pole.

If you are honest, you have to admit that it is obvious that McLaren superior pace is a result of being able to tightly connect track temperature with the car. This means that their temperature window is rather small, especially for a one lap run. Looks like they can fine tune their temperatures so highly that changes in temperature affect them much more than other cars.

This car did multiple faster laps than pole in Q2. But then the temperature fell.

Btw Red Bull surely has a better car than Aston Martin. Quite a bottle job by the Red Bull today.

What a quali :D wtf happened there? I guess the big temperature drop and wind change completely threw the car out of its optimal window. Top 6 were all super close, 4 different teams, wow.
Luckily, McLaren doesn't need to be too bothered by this. Makes for an interesting race tomorrow for sure. Might end up the classic Osc P1 and Lando stuck behind P2 car (but it's Lec instead of Max).
Either way, it should be win number 200 tomorrow and I would not mind 4th 1-2 in a row.

I posted something in the race thread and the more I watch the post quali show the more I think the drivers just didn’t take any risk.

It’s crazy to be disappointed with a 2-3 in quali

you should be disappointed, someone/something bottled the quali. Out of all cars, Ferrari isn't the one that is best in cold conditions or one that has a bigger temp window. And so far MCL has had the widest window of all cars on the grid.

To not be 1-2 has to be figured out, of course the car is still great and the drivers too, but something went wrong here.
