Its so annoying that there's such a huge shift between quali and race pace. An ailment that has been present in the last couple of years.

I mean, how do you go from a 0.5s lead on Alonso in quali to a 0.1-0.2s per lap deficit on race pace.

That's a 0.7s swing in performance.

They need to get that sh*t sorted.
I think in qualy often Lando (never RIC) get from the car even more than 100% of the potential. The car was still behind Alpine. Upgrades to the back of the floor and sidepods did't provide a big step.

Lovely job by Daniel, his usual 3-4 tenths of lando throughout the weekend and made even better this time round by costing us 4th in the WDC
If Daniel could at some point this season remember he isn’t in a formula 2 car , we might be able to fight Alpine for 4th.

I absolutely cannot wait for the day that Ricciardo is fired from McLaren. No matter how much he brings in in sponsorship, it cannot possibly be worth loosing 3rd in 2021 and now loosing 4th in 2022.

What an absolute joke of a driver he has become. At this point, just fire him now and rotate whoever wants to have go for some money through the car because they cannot possibly be worse than the Aussie currently in it.

Not a bad result…. This is an odd circuit so won’t be drawing too many conclusions from this result or the upgrades

The upgrade was good enough to fortify them inside top 10, with Ricciardo looking better as well. Alpine are constantly upgrading which also shows in the races.

Have in mind that a long time now Mclaren is making cars with a terrible handicap as they have to travel back and forth to Toyota's outdated Wind Tunnel and Simulator and the results from there are not accurate enough. Hopefully with the new Wind Tunnel and Simulator very soon this will solve the traveling distance problem and the accuracy.

Lando kept saying he was Pace 0 all race which meant he had a lot in reserve but simply couldn't close on ALO when it mattered ☹️
He probably could close the gap, but not get past. Therefore there was no sense in driving behind and overheating the components.

Unfortunately better is not being 5 places back. He is closer to Lando but not doing anything special. A solid number 2 drive.

Edit: a number 2 driver, not that his drive was a number 2 :D

Yawn 🥱

Solid result for the team in and around the places we expected to be.

Hopefully another weekend of racing I’m Budapest can help us dial it in, at a track that might suit us at medium speeds.

This was a track that (without the upgrades) we expected the Alpines to be a lot quicker. The upgrades helped imo. I think the team needs more time to fully understand how the new package works and how to setup the car.

Besides the gap from Alpine in race pace, there was a similar or ever bigger gap to Mercs'race pace.

Ya finished ya rant yet? Lando lost 2 positions from where he started, Dan lost none but let's put all the race points lost on Ricciardo eh. The Alpines were too quick for us. As for losing 4th I didn't know the season was finished already. 🤦‍♂️

Sorry, but the glass should be half full, not half empty. It's because of him that we still didn't reach 100 points mark.

Lando just pulled a massive carbon piece from the tunnel area when he got out of the car, looked like it was lodged in there... guess less than ideal... pretty funny how he handled it
