Wonder how much of that is car setup, with Ricciardo chasing one lap pace with his setup and Vergne setting up for the race?SectorOne wrote:He´s got speed, i give him that but we can´t ignore Vergne in the races. Some races Vergne has been very very good.
Best to describe the two is Ricciardo goes backwards in races and Vergne goes forward in general.
Keep an eye next time Ricciardo does a blistering lap for Qual then watch how within 5-10 laps Vergne is right behind him.
My own wish is Kimi vs Vettel in the same equal machinery, that would be a dream line-up.
Rubbish, JEV didn't catch Dan until there where 2 laps left at Hungary and the reason why he keeps catching Dan is he starts on new tires due to missing q3 as he's too slow!SectorOne wrote:He´s got speed, i give him that but we can´t ignore Vergne in the races. That's not a valid excuse because Ricciardo has the option to not run in q3 to have the same amount of tyres as JEV. He chose to run, even running on the faster tyre in hopes of gaining grid position but in doing so failed to capitalise on his starting position.djos wrote:Rubbish, JEV didn't catch Dan until there where 2 laps left at Hungary and the reason why he keeps catching Dan is he starts on new tires due to missing q3 as he's too slow!SectorOne wrote:He´s got speed, i give him that but we can´t ignore Vergne in the races. If Dan was truly faster in race trim then the fact that he starts on tyres a few laps old should not cause him to finish behind his team mate in the race. It's not like the tyres Dan start on have done half a Grand Prix -they've done a few laps in Q3 most of the time. That's not exactly an enormous disadvantage. I think JEV is the faster driver in the races and I don't think the tyres have all that much to do with it.djos wrote:Rubbish, JEV didn't catch Dan until there where 2 laps left at Hungary and the reason why he keeps catching Dan is he starts on new tires due to missing q3 as he's too slow!SectorOne wrote:He´s got speed, i give him that but we can´t ignore Vergne in the races. Why just look into one race? Why not look over 1,5 years instead?djos wrote:Rubbish, JEV didn't catch Dan until there where 2 laps left at Hungary and the reason why he keeps catching Dan is he starts on new tires due to missing q3 as he's too slow!SectorOne wrote:He´s got speed, i give him that but we can´t ignore Vergne in the races. All it proves is the strategic tyre advantage of failing to make Q3, (ignoring the several times Dan has been passed after car failures while in the top 10), we've been seeing this an awful lot lately from the mid field teams who successfully leap frog top 10 qualifiers using tire strategy.SectorOne wrote:Why just look into one race? The facts are that Ricciardo is better in Qualifying but ends the race in a lower position then Vergne on average.

Just because you start on mediums doesn´t mean you will automatically jump people.
If you make one less stop then you have actually gained something. But running your tires in different order is just a different strategy that might or might not work.
You didn´t know? Jokes and having fun is off limits here. Some people have never experienced any joy you know.djos wrote:I reject your reality and substitute my own.SectorOne wrote:Different strategy just means a different way to do the race.
