What an engineer thing to say.

Yup, the continuum (& Reynolds-averaged!) model of fluid flow in CFD can't match the temporal & molecular resolution of... physical reality.

Things definitely looking good here. I don't know if the diffuser changes were significant, but Lando reported quite a big step in grip in his quali sim.

After a relatively tough year, it's nice to see stuff like this, albeit its still only practice.

Yeah, practice is practice, but it's certainly looking a lot more promising than most sessions so far this season.

Interesting that RIC reports that he can’t go quicker. But the team wall says, opportunities in braking for T6 and T12. 0.2s behind NOR is encouraging though. Seemingly still a tad uncomfortable in the characteristics of the car. Car looks good though. Draggy but it does have impressive DF in full DF kit

As I said before the car has good downforce but the drag lets it down.

Lando should also have a bit more in that lap because he ran quite wide in the final corner.

Anyone keeping track of long run pace? Can't really follow it at the moment.

Would be disappointing to drop from a 0.2s gap in one lap pace to over a second behind in race pace.

Is it easy to make a good downforce car less draggy?

Difference could well be even more pronounced when it’s rainy. You need the DF when it gets tricky.

Well, if we take Imola as a reference then a bit of rain might not be such a bad thing.

Matching Red Bull by the looks of it? Excellent start to the weekend and as expected, a medium speed track playing right to our relative strength.
