Hadjar's race stint actually looks quite decent given where the car is currently and who was driving it. It will be very interesting to see what Max can do in an upgraded car next week. Ferrari really took a step with their upgrades.

Hadjar also did a part of his sim without a bargeboard, no?
The FIA folds on a royal flush.

I think so, unclear how long it was missing for, at least the final hour yesterday.

It looks rather weak to me comparing it to Hamilton/Russell, even Piastri. Would be nice to have session averages, but it feels like that next week update should worth at least 0.5s, while Max should add also 0.5s to Hadjar's pace just to be in the ballpark.
Of course this assumption is only based on that particular race sim, there are plenty of other unknown factors, so real picture might be better (or worse).

I am comparing this to what we used to see with Tsunoda and Perez. Hadjar is at least starting his stints in the ballpark of where the competition is. He didn't use the hards which is suboptimal, he had a missing barge-board for some amount of time at the end of his race run, and we know the car is pretty raw from a development standpoint. Still he is not miles off which tells me the bones of the car are good.

The biggest unknown for me is Merc and their engine. How much they are hiding.

Then probably we have different definition/expectation, as I see he is actually miles off.
Of course it is not Cadillac pace, but we never expected to be there. I expect them to fight for the WDC and above race sim does not seem enough for that. It is more in line with Wache's comment being at clear 4th place behind the leading pack.

Its just a base car with no updates, others have a more developed one already. I am quite optimistic we had an another day with more than 100 laps. Amazing with this new engine.

The tyre wear also looked quite ok.

You're just reading the times off the sheet and not listening to what I was saying.

I think Red Bull will have real pontoons next week, and the concept will be reminiscent of the Mercedes W13. This panel might be fake, how it was on RB18. Image

Yes, I was talking about purely that table with the times.
I read what you were saying, but those are impossible to quantify so I was not even trying to.

I'm still optimistic for the season, with upgrades, steep learning curve, Max effect etc. All I was saying that particular race sim from Hadjar was rather underwhelming for me, if anything.

Well Wache said Ferrari, Mercedes, and Mclaren appears to be in front, but they're right behind them. So I would interpret it as Red Bull is close. It could be 1 tenths behind them, or 2 tenths behind. And if it's true that Red Bull will bring a big aero package at the next test, that can close the gap. So what Wache said didn't sound like a pessimistic, or negative view, just rather he is downplaying expectations.

We are only looking at snapshots in time while the projects are in their infancy. The team that leads in Australia could still get left behind after 7 races.
