Interesting features regarding handling...how can software play into that. Simulator is obviously software, and Albon said they spent a lot of time on the simulator taking out the weaknesses of the chassis.

I don't think I can figure it out, I'm terrible at riddles.
Software for power delivery and recovery. Fuel mapping as well.
Mechanically there is a new ICE, turbocharger, MGU-H, MGU-K, harnesses, exhaust, wastegates, diffuser, floor, cape, barge boards, brake ducts, rear suspension, gearbox casing. Possibly a new fuel and fluids as well.
There is 100% new fuel and fluids. The last 3 or 4 years have been an absolute BOON for the lubrication industry. With new additive packages and more control and better refinement of base oils. Nanotech and ionic liquids have been a huge game changer in the last few years, just last year I know there have been big advances in nano particles, particularly 'inorganic fullerene tungsten disulfide'. Regular WS2 is plate like sheets, while good at lubricating it does little for extreme pressure, or shock loading. IFWS2 on the other hand does have shock loading properties.

But this is just for end consumers, imagine what they have at the F1 level, Honda and RBR have a direct line to Esso, their lube and fuel partner. It's little doubt that whatever is in the new power unit is cutting edge stuff. They're not putting lucas fuel treatment in the power unit I can tell you that.

Yep, Crofty confirmed there was a fuel upgrade worth a good amount of horsepower.

new honda sounds onboard without commentary (open in yt)

Deep growling is gone and imo merc, renault and honda now sound very similar with that high pitch hissing.
Wasn't that same sound onn for Ferrari in 2018 and 2019?

Growling is still there on the exterior shots, its just the classic f1 cant mix the onboard sounds meme for the first few races/tests. Especially today all onboards had severe phasing issues on the sound

I hope Red Bull fix the two little "issues" with the livery. Putting the Honda badge on the nose back to where it was before (it doesn't stand out on the yellow background compared to the blue background), and putting the Honda decal on the halo to the opposite position of the Telcel decal, instead of back by the headrest where it reads as "NDA" on the left and "HON" on the right which looks silly.

Or maybe something like this would work -- a larger decal like on the AlphaTauri, in a red colour that matches the Bull graphics? All I know is as is, it doesn't look quite right to me as it is.

During all full throttle areas there is a very hard working e-motor sound there. Are they using electro turbo instead of mgu-k help for more traction ? Higher compression ratio, more torq from ice and smoother reving up. Just assumptions.
Maybe using turbo side E.M. give longer and better performance instead of mgu-k motoring and if you still need to have mgu-k help it is still there with lesser energy but more power for a shorter time.

Surely that's the gearbox?

Its the gearbox but anyways the engine sounds the same as usual on the replay onboard which has proper mixing.

RA21H is the real deal. The step forward should be obvious.

I hope a not-Mercedes team is leading the WDC/WCC by Monaco.

Then we get a season!

I think im going to agree with this. It is looking great. Sounds epic as well. The Honda growl is there and if anything much more crackly and aggressive but smaller duration. Engine sounds smooth as butter.

Is anyone NOT going to call this engine a Honda next year? They all still called the Tag engines Renaults when they had em...🤣

Sounds great btw. Hope it's a giant killer.

I think thats the general consensus on this forum but I'm starting to think its something more. In 2018, 2019 only Ferrari had exactly this type of sound but then it more or less disappeared in 2020.
It could just be the mic placement but i think there's more going on behind the scenes here

If it is gearbox I would surprise too much. I always thought that is electric motor spins turbo
