Can't say I agree with this at all. I'm a fan of the Monaco Grand Prix, I think it's a race that highlights the consistency of the drivers. To be able to complete a race weekend at Monaco without any mishaps in itself is a win. We get equally dull races at brand new Tilke-domes, will this become a new rule for the remainder of the season in 2027 if we get two thrilling Monaco GPs now?
I fear if this produces exciting Monaco GPs then it'll be deemed a success and the powers that be will begin thinking of other daft gimmicks to "spice up the action". That's the problem with modern sports and today's viewership. We can't have dull sporting events now and then. Everything has to be clippable for TikTok and turned into a Hollywood blockbuster production documentary.
