It's a nothing burger. Why do you care that they didn't get lucky when they've been doing it on ability? Bet you any of the other teams would swap places????
This is the whole paradox that our chassis is better, the chance to win is higher, but always that something does not work out. Fortune doesn't make us happy.Xero wrote: ↑30 Aug 2021, 14:32Taking away any outlier results, the true measure of progress is consistency. Inheriting wins through fortunate circumstances will never be as satisfying as earning one on pure merit. So personally, this doesn't bother me too much. The win will come, and I still think we have an opportunity this year at Monza.
They used an all PU for the “race”, (PU #2) they didn’t use PU#3 on Sunday_cerber1 wrote: ↑30 Aug 2021, 13:33I am still worried about the motor, the impact was very strong, yesterday's mileage was too low for them to identify problems.runningmanz wrote: ↑30 Aug 2021, 01:58Disappointing to not have a race but at least we are back in 3rd so not all bad.
I fully agree… Lucking out on a win would be fun and it will be celebrated, but on the other hand, achieving a win on luck or fortuitous events in a race and not because you had the pace to be there doesn’t reflect progress, it just reflects luck… I’m perfectly happy not having a win by those means.Xero wrote: ↑30 Aug 2021, 14:32Taking away any outlier results, the true measure of progress is consistency. For the race win, no, but we don't need one. It would be the icing on the cake, but the cake is fine without it_cerber1 wrote: ↑30 Aug 2021, 15:31This is the whole paradox that our chassis is better, the chance to win is higher, but always that something does not work out. Not just Marshalls. I don't know for certain about Spa, but I know at Silverstone the medical staff for drivers and teams are only contracted for the 3 days. I have a few colleagues who work there and they wouldn't be able to get cover at work at such short notice if they were due in on the Monday.
I've been a fan of Mclaren and F1 since 1997, this was by far the biggest fiasco, worse than 2005 Indianapolis race....
I’ve been an F1 fan since 86 and imo this isn’t even close to the Indianapolis fiasco! That fiasco could have been resolved if Max M stopped being a tool for 5 mins.
We are getting out of topic here, but keeping people on the stands for hours with clear no intentions of ever racing, then doing a 2 laps behind the SC when is almost dark (6pm local time) just to cover your butt's legally over sponsor and ticket holders payments and then call this a race, split the points and have a podium celebration is a fiasco of epic proportions.djos wrote: ↑31 Aug 2021, 13:29I’ve been an F1 fan since 86 and imo this isn’t even close to the Indianapolis fiasco! This weekend was 100% out of the control of F1 and everybody involved. Therefore not a fiasco, just a damp squib.
I disagree, they were hoping the rain would stop so they could go racing - it didnt pan out. It sucks but calling it worse than Indy ignores the fact that they had no other options than to basically award half-race points based on the qualifying result.bauc wrote: ↑31 Aug 2021, 14:03We are getting out of topic here, but keeping people on the stands for hours with clear no intentions of ever racing, then doing a 2 laps behind the SC when is almost dark (6pm local time) just to cover your butt's legally over sponsor and ticket holders payments and then call this a race, split the points and have a podium celebration is a fiasco of epic proportions.djos wrote: ↑31 Aug 2021, 13:29I’ve been an F1 fan since 86 and imo this isn’t even close to the Indianapolis fiasco! My only problem was the half points for no competitive laps. As Vettel said (paraphrasing) if you want to give out points for qualifying... then do so but then don't say these points were for a race cause there wasn't one.djos wrote: ↑31 Aug 2021, 13:29I’ve been an F1 fan since 86 and imo this isn’t even close to the Indianapolis fiasco!
