It really sucks that it was a 2v1 for strategy here. No matter what Ferrari did they were taking a huge risk since McLaren can just split the strategy between their drivers.
Honestly once Norris committed to the 1-Stop, it was all over. The McLaren pace is too great and their tyre wear is still impressive.
Even if Charles didn’t pit, Norris would have a bigger gap if he stayed out a few laps more… and if Oscar pitted, even if Charles did the next lap, more than likely he would’ve got past with the undercut, as the gap was below 2 seconds (compared to the first stops when it was closer to 3 seconds gap).
Commentators keep going on about Hard Tyres lasting the rest of the way, when several drivers on the field made the Mediums last for half Race Distance.
The battle won’t be for P1; It’ll be a (short) battle for P2/P3 between Oscar and Charles and another McLaren 1,2. Charles might need to worry about George Russell by race end…
