That Caterham swapped him out for Van der Gerde for the 2013 tyre test suggests pretty heavily to me that Heikki will be out...
Interesting observation but with Pic now confirmed at Caterham that would suggest a full line up change. Are Petrov's financial benifits not enough for him to stay? I could see him swapping to Marrusia what with the Russian connection. That would leave Glock without a drive though and I understand he's likely to partner Chilton.

Glock is safe at Marussia and Chilton is rumoured to be fixed.
Petrov's money boys are rumoured to have lost interest in F1, I don't know how much he's still carrying around. But I can imagine him in Marussia for 2014 if the race in Sotchi is held as planned.

Petrov's got no dough left, and to be frank I don't think he's done enough to warrant a paid drive (as opposed to a pay drive)

He did sort of ok as far as dominations go.

There has been a lot of talk about other drivers going 'bout lately, but Romain Grosjean seems to have evaded that as of late.

According to speedtv.com , Grosjean has yet to have been offered an extention by Lotus.

Alguesuari was offered a seat by Lotus last year & he does have knowledge of next years tyres.

I'd be in favor for a Kimi/Algesuari Lotus team. I always like Algesuari for some reason, and I felt that Toro Rosso treated him like crap.

I always felt he was a bit crap tbh, as was Buemi. That said, there don't really seem to be any drivers more worthy of the position at the moment.

I´m with you. Never understood the talk about him or Buemi. They were average at best.

The word 'average' would be an understatement if you're driving a below standard STR. However, Jaime did manage to get 25 points as opposed to Buemi and almost helped STR overtake Suber in the Construtors last year.

But the clash with Dr. Marko in Korea sealed his fate for 2012.

If he gets a drive with Lotus, which is a superior team to all the mid-fielders (including MercGP) & then fails, then maybe I just might agree with you.

Average in F1 terms. STR was way more competitive back then, then now.

I don´t buy the Marko thing. They would not have asked him to be a test driver for them before asking Buemi if that was the case.
Both were given enough time in STR, both were in need of wowing RBR and you had a line-up of very talented drivers waiting to replace them.

I don't recall him being offered a spot as a Test/Reserve Driver with RBR...

"We closed the agreement as third driver with Sebastien Buemi after Alguersuari did not want to join our team," Briton Newey is quoted by Spain's Mundo Deportivo newspaper.

How often does it really happen that someone in the bottom half of the championship leaves for a year and then comes back? (Does anyone have statistics on this?) Isn't it all just wishful thinking, regarding Algersuari and Sutil? Surely there must be enough young talent in the junior formulas.

Sometimes it happens. Glock, Hulkenberg, Grosjean are recent examples.
