Two US F1 team trailers have been put up for sale on eBay. The trailers were originally purchased from Brawn GP, and were planned to be used for the 2010 season. However, when USF1 ran into difficulties just weeks before the start of the season, which were discribed by the team as "serious economic and funding challenges", they were unable to make the grid in Bahrain.
Post here all non technical related topics about Formula One. This includes race results, discussions, testing analysis etc. TV coverage and other personal questions should be in Off topic chat.
Dan Gurney's Eagle F1 team was called Anglo American Racers, based in the UK, built a car designed by a Brit(Len Terry) and had a British-built Weslake engine. The Indy operations however, All American Racers, was in Santa Ana California.
As for Ken Anderson and the Windshear tunnel, he's not mentioned anywhere in their press releases about the project. According to Jacobs Techology, who built the windtunnel, he was merely a technical consultant.
"I spent most of my money on wine and women...I wasted the rest"
"paying prices at a premium, particularly when it comes to recruitment"
good engineer is expensive. I am repeating this time and time again to the head hunters and their customers and they still have problems with understanding this.
I have to admit Americans are especially resistant to this simple truth.
I like the bit where it says: "We could have our cars and team personnel back in Charlotte after a race like the Spanish Grand Prix faster than the average British-based team would have its trucks back in England, and for virtually no increase in cost."
Back before the trucks...not surprised when your mode of transport is an aeroplane. I suppose they'll have an air-line sponsor aswell, to make their cost equal to trucking the cars around. If not, then I'm wondering how they got this price.
What does strike me as worrying, for them, is the "fan friendly" fractory. Would it be that hard to employ someone to make visits to their factory to get a wee heads up on what's happening, say in aero department, before they take it to the track? Effectively shortening the gap between finding out and seeing if it can work on their car.
"It could be done manually. It would take quite a while, but it could be done. There is however a much more efficient and accurate way of getting the data. Men with lasers." Wing Commander Andy Green
They said that but then they've also said they'll have a UK/Europe base which is like a place where the sponsors can visit in private. I guess thats where the "real" work will happen.
Sounds like a totally glorified system to me, just admit it, you honestly need to develop your car in the UK... Starting to hate this team for no reason lol.
On the subject of Discover Channel, I'd love to see a more feature length deal done with F1 along the lines of the "Truth in 24" film. Joke if you will, but there's something very pretty about NFL Films shooting anything with racing.
