It's not a crystal ball. It's logic. We have a good gap in points and we are the most consistent team from the midfields. Mclaren has to literally --- things themselves in order to lose.
Blind faith and hope is not logic.

Should be a good close race tomorrow but........

YOU NEVER KNOW
Wow, can't believe people dinging you for that.

Renault haven't given up have they?

Wonder if Sainz starts on Mediums tomorrow? Will that give him and edge in the race and will he be able to take advantage of it?

Andreas Seidl just said that they are definitely on the cards for both cars. Race is going to be good no matter what.

What happened with Sainz?
Not sure, I had to feed my daughter just after Q1.

Still half a sec behind Vettel, did he have an issue or something?
Last year Haas were best of the rest, 1.3 seconds behind pole, this year it is us and renault, c 1.1secs behind. Not too bad.

Slightly disappointing qualifying, both cars should have been in the top 10 but it goes like that sometimes. Race pace looked considerably better than both the Renault and Toro Rosso cars yesterday though so points should still be the goal.

The team was strong all through the weekend and they are still clearly in that fight... The fight is there and is encouraging to see the team still moving forward compared to last year.

That wasn't what Inwas referring to. Read my post again.

There are people here who think after 1 good race we have alrady solidified 4th in the championship and it's time to catch RBR. Maybe you were one of them?
Honestly don’t see the point you are trying to make... And No, Mclaren hasn’t had “1” good race... Since the beginning of the year they have exceeded expectations and clearly fought in the midfield and if anything they have had bad luck at the beginning of the season preventing them of showing more points at this point (Carlos issue in Australia, Lando stuck behind GIO in the same race... Carlos collision with Verstappen in Bahrain, Suspension issues for Lando in Canada and a visor stuck in Carlos’ rear brake duct... Lando’s hydraulic issues in France)... If anything, the team has showed a very strong package in most races with the exception of China and Spain... Even in Monaco they did really well... So, based on the season so far, they have been clearly the 4th best team and the points show... Today, they mixed it up with Renault and their car/setup didn’t adjust to the changing track conditions... That’s all their is... For you to argue that they aren’t the 4th best team would mean that you haven’t really watched the season so far.

Race pace is the same as Renault and Toro Rosso so it will be at the start. Midfield is tight and Haas with Oz chassis had laptime that could have been to Q3.

Yep. Mclaren seemed to have consolidated their status as 4th team but here they were equal to Renault and Toro Rosso. Not good, not impressive. I can't see them outracing RIC

Sainz: "It's not what we wanted, after a positive Q1, where I felt good, we lost grip on the back : every set of tires I put was one or two tenths slower, we did not touch the car and in Q1 I have done 26.2 and in Q2, 26.7 "

The fact that even Lando's best time was set in Q1 suggests that both cars were suffering with the same issue. The track temperature dropped in Q2 by 3 degrees Celsius so that may have played a part.

Simply got caught out by track evolution, tomorrow will be interesting. More gusts and more wind. Sainz has the pace to get points. I feel Norris can scrap with Gasly.

When told on the radio he had missed the cut Sainz said something like 'just as suspected'

What was he referring to? was there a problem?
When arguing with a fool, be sure the other person is not doing the same thing.

I have heard the rumours of Telefonica and Vodafone are trying to get into the game.

However, Zac Brown has been having the issue of sponsors ringing his phone off the hook.

All the present sponsors have been signing up long term, some increasing their exposure as well.

Overall, i can see the McLaren budget increase for 2020, this years budget is a estimated €165m - $175m for the team, under Honda it was €80m higher, but if they can get that closer to the €225m mark, and spend it correctly and in a smart way, i think they can easily challenge Red Bull on merit, and even challenge the Mercedes and Ferraris.

On Engines, i can see them staying with Renault long term now. I have heard murmurs that McLaren are interested in running a junior team in F1, one that is ran on a budget of €100m maximum. As Ron should have done in 2017 when Manor went to the wall for the final time, bought all the assets for the price of their debts, that's was only £9.3m or so at the time, then done what Lawrence Stroll did last year with Racing point. Switched to the Mercedes power unit until Honda got their act together with the new team. Im sure they could have ran hot young drivers in the smaller team, it was a modded opportunity i think. It would have given McLaren a second vote in the F1 structure as well.
Two very big companies if that is true. Would be surprising seeing Vodafone back however....
