However I would like to point out an old racing saying: you can tame a fast driver, but you can't make a slow driver fast.

I think Maldo just needs the right coach in his corner to calm him down. There have been other great drivers who had rocky beginnings like Colin McRae who was nick named Colin McCrash for quite a while. Maldo may not be a "great" but he does have IMO potential to be decent.
