Ecclestone made a fortune of 4,2 Billions....
And people still wonder what´s F1 problem?
To be fair, 4.2 billion would be enough to sustain 4 teams for 4 years. He's made that fortune over many decades. So in practice, his income is not even close to enough to solve the problem.
Sorry but flawed point
That´s like saying I have to pay 50.000 for a car, and since I earn 50.000€ per year I can pay it in one single year. Things don´t work that way
He´s squeezing every single part involved in F1:
-He´s squeezing F1 tracks asking them to pay huge amounts of money to host a GP to the point many traditional F1 tracks had to refuse to continue in the F1 calendar due to those disproportionate fees
- He´s squeezing TV channels with disprorportionate fees too and many of them are saying F1 is not profitable for them now so they´ll stop broadcasting
- He´s squeezing F1 teams with unfair distribution of incomes wich means small teams will be small forever because it´s not possible to catch up big teams with such a small revenue so many teams, trying to do it by theirselves run out of money and have to retire
- He´s squeezing F1 fans because of F1 track fees and TV channel fees, because they´re companies wich need some profit and the only way to make it posible is with BIG prices as some of you have been showing some posts above
- With prices going up both to watch it live on track or from TV because it´s the only way to make it profitable for them, audience, both live at track and from TV are going down each season. When audience go down, sponsors pay less money or directly lose interest on F1, so you see big teams like Williams or McLaren with no sponsors. Continue this route of prices going up, audience going down, and sponsors moving out of F1, and F1 will disapear quite soon
So it´s not a matter of he could only support 4 teams for 4 seasons, but he´s squeezing every sinlge part involved in F1 with disproportionate fees or small revenues. With fees just a small percentage more affordable TV channels could continue broadcasting for free, audience would go up, sponsors would be interested, F1 tracks could sell tickets for more reasonable prices, stands wouldn´t be empty....
And probably he still would have a 10 digit account, but greed is endless. Looks like the only one making money with F1 is Mr E, all the rest struggling, fans, tracks, teams, TV´s...
