Toto Wolff: Mercedes won't 'get rid of performance fluctuations' in F1 2025
Despite winning four races, Mercedes had a clear weakness in warmer temperatures, severely limiting its ability to challenge consistently

It characterises the team’s development struggles in the ground effect era, which Wolff wants to put right in the final year of this rules cycle.

“I hope that we draw the right conclusions from this over the winter and adjust the development direction for the 2025 car,” he said.
We won’t be able to get rid of these fluctuations completely. We will also see them next year with all the teams.”

Wolff acknowledges that Mercedes isn’t alone in having strengths and weaknesses.

“All four teams that won races [in 2024] have experienced these ups and downs,” Wolff said.

“Nobody has designed a car that was consistently good across all race tracks and all weather conditions.

“McLaren had a great car for maximum downforce and hot weather. The Ferrari was also more on that side.

“Our car was fast when there were fast corners and the temperatures were cold. The Red Bull could sometimes do one thing and sometimes the other.”

Uhhhh I don't really think Wolff should be criticising other teams. Maybe focus on getting his own car to the same consistent level as others first?

In an GP247 article it was mentioned that George Russel earn 15million.

Why would an academy driver who is kind of tied to Mercedes, and begging Toto to get out of the Williams seat be paid so much? Did he have many options for a better seat that Toto had to splurge so much?

Sebastian Vettel after 2 championships was still being paid 10 million

Goes to show these bigger teams have money to burn. George would have gladly taken 10 pence and a cup of tea if it meant securing that seat. 15m is equivalent to being free (and doesnt apply to the cost cap limit) to Merc.

I find it interesting to see the page count of the Mercedes team thread now Hamilton is no longer there.

It just shows the huge marketing power he carries. Mercedes have probably lost at least 70% of their supporters. And by supporters I mean people who care what they are up to.

No way... we are loyal to the death to Daimler and Mercedes Group like a Panzergrenadier unit to ther command officer. No matter what driver is. I supported Mclaren-Mercedes since 1998 because of Mercedes, not because of Mclaren, british heritage, papaya, etc. When they split I knew from the first second that I go with Mercedes. I supported Hakkinen, and then Hamilton because in soem form they were representing Mercedes factory team in motorsport. I was supper happy in 2013 when Hamilton came to Mercedes. But now it is over. Especially when he goes to the red team. We are supporting Mercedes not the drivers.

Not really much to say atm, its pre season, only training sessions happening, and Merc are not exactly posting much to talk about, nor do they have the attention they used to have now LH has left the team, thats how it goes when you no longer have a champion in your ranks and you only have a new driver who didnt really shine brightly in F2 and GR.... Its not like they have the media pull of LH any more.

I imagine they will get some buzz back once they get a few podiums and maybe wins. Or maybe some magical front wing design.

It won't be the same and the level of interest likely won't return without the media trumping up some rivalry between the drivers (inside and outside the team), but all it takes is one crash/overtake/impedance and the pitchforks and shields will eventually come back out.

It really is eerily quiet for a merc thread though.

Most Mercedes fans were Hamilton fans?

I don’t understand the necessity of people posting about Ham when he’s currently a Ferrari driver? Can we please stick to the forum topic of MERCEDES 2025? Thanks 8) =D>

That's candid observation, not criticism. No team had a ubiquitous consistent handle of every track.
If they did, prove him wrong.

Implying that you are going to have a ball in the Ferrari thread. By all means, but in the Ferrari thread.
