So it’s my understanding that teams will be informed of the the zones at least 4 weeks before the start of each event
Assuming the 4 weeks is from the Friday, that means teams should about AUS by today
Anyone seen any news on this yet?
I'm sceptical. 2025 cars had so much downforce no amount of straight line speed is gonna overcome it. Especially not when the battery is dead within a few seconds on every straight.
Baku at least has the potential to harvest the full 8,5 MWs allowed under braking and part throttle without the need for additional straight line recovery. If this is enough for being faster? I have no clue.
Baku has a monster long straight, and then two decent length straights right after. It's not just about whether they can harvest all the energy allowed over a lap, it's also pretty important WHERE on the track they're doing it and where they need to deploy.BorisTheBlade wrote: ↑06 Feb 2026, 15:02Baku at least has the potential to harvest the full 8,5 MWs allowed under braking and part throttle without the need for additional straight line recovery. At Monza they will be heavily starved - laptimes will increase a lot.
For Jeddah and LV I haven't done the math.
FW17 wrote: ↑09 Feb 2026, 12:03I hope straight line mode is at least corner apex to corner apex and not designated activation line halfway down the straight. This will at least entertain us in seeing which car/driver is able to put the power down with the wing open the soonest. Will be a real differentiator with car capability, driver ability, tyre age and tyre condition.
Or in other words: Will the ES be a limiting factor? I will see that I do a calculation for an indication.Seanspeed wrote: ↑09 Feb 2026, 12:29Baku has a monster long straight, and then two decent length straights right after. With the inverted Ferrari wing I fear there will be no sort of cornering possible.Danlizzyman wrote: ↑27 Feb 2026, 14:52Would have been interesting to see how cars would have taken T7 & 8 in Straight Mode, but this makes sense for safety, especially at the first GP of this reg set.
