Well maybe he should. Then we wouldn't have to hear about how tyres "didn't work" in his car and that's why he drove like a child last year

Its a matter of your personal opinion. Its different for everyone. Well, as for the tyres, they did work at the Hungaroring is nt it? Watch out for Valencia.

Oh, for God's sake, Shut up!
We've seen him in TV wishing Felipe the best out of a live-threatening situation, that's enough for him. And given Kimi's personality, he wouldn't have said it if he didn't mean it.
We are too quick in judging the rest of mankind. Don't put a label on him just because he didn't do the same thing you would have done in the same situation.

I'm seeing a lot of people here who can't perceive the world through the eyes of another.

You know the North American thing where people go out of their way to smile and say hello and make chitchat? From my understanding, lots of European people find that short of thing intrusive and bothersome.

They'd think we're pushy, rude twats, we'd think they're stuck up coldfishes who don't care about anyone else.

And all that's really wrong is a lack of understanding, and instead foisting one's own expectations for behavior onto another.

So here's what I expect from Kimi - Ever second weekend or so, I expect to turn on the TV Sunday morning and be able to watch him racing in F1. Until he retires, in which case, I expect to not see him racing F1 anymore.

I think when we stopped viewing them as drivers and started trying to learn every detail about them is where we went wrong.

Which really makes me wonder what the hell's wrong with Jenson and Rubens, having bloody twitter accounts belching out their life story every day...

So basic human decency does not exist in Finland? So what if Kimi and I are from different backgrounds, human decency is universal. Is it really too much to expect 1 teammate to call another after such an accident? MS visited... even that douchebag Luca went to Brazil to visit... Kimi cant even call?

I've never viewed them as just drivers, I view them as Human beings that are race car drivers, would you like to be viewed merely by what your job description is? Just because I didnt know Massa personally does not mean I would not feel bad for him after such an accident. Kimi interacts with him on a regular basis, that alone warrants at least a call.

Someone other than me views it strange that KImi hasnt called, or else the story would not have surfaced. If you dont think it strange than maybe you are missing some part of your humanity.

Is it worth noting that Massa says his silence is "No problem" also that Kimi sent a card? :P

I reckon that some members are getting too worked up about this. What initially started out as an admiring post for Kimi has started a "good and evil" type war...kinda reminds me of the Lewis Hamilton fights

Just chill and let the admiration flow :) I'd rather see people admiring drivers than slating them.

Re: Kimi Raikonenn - What A Man

From this months F1 racing magazine interview.

'Despite Massa's repeated and early attempts to go to know the taciturn Finn, the iceman has shut him out of his world. "I find it strange because it is not my personality," says Massa. "I am a very open guy, I talk to everybody inside the team and I always try to approach Kimi but he never opened the door. Then one time I said to myself:'it doesn't change anything if I keep trying to get close to Kimi because he will not change' and then I stop. We have a good relationship as colleagues but, in friendly normal life, he completely lives in his own world. It is not just with me, it is with the whole team"

Does he feel that Raikkonen's reluctance to open up has affected the team effort? Once again Massa is candid on a tricky subject. "I think it wold have better if Kimi had been a bit more open. But anyways, it is like that - you can ont change anything."

Quote over. Seems like the amount (lack) of support that Kimi gave him is on par with every relationship the iceman has with anyone.

After browsing Wikipedia's list of Finns and only recognizing two that aren't racecar drivers (composer Sibelius and Linux creator Linus Torvalds), I'm tempted to say the Finns are naturally a little isolationist/reserved.

Even if he is, who cares. The guy sent Massa a card, thats a considerate though enough. He probably figured that Filipe would have enough people fussing around him, and that a card is fitting.

Massa reminds me of a mate I grew up with. Especially after a race or qualifying when he is on the podium, and he is having a laugh with everyone, putting his arms around other drivers, all sorts of warm stuff like that. He reminds me of that mate of mine because when we used to do karting and stuff like that as youngsters, he was exactly the same. Handshakes, having a laugh, even with people he just met. It was like he wanted to be everyones best friend. I'm not saying that is a bad thing, its just how people are, you can't expect everyone to have more or less the same personality.

So who cares if he lives in his own world. If Massa and the rest of the Ferrari team has grown to accept Kimi as he is, surely people like us who don't even know the guy can too.

I bet Ferrari cares that their driver is so distant as it keeps the teamfrom gelling properly. Not everyone needs to be friends but for a team used to someone like ms pulling everyone together in good and bad times, with the other driver trying to do the same. Not so with kimi. Maybe if kimi was a bit better with the team it would take pressure off Felipe who is filling ms shoes as a motivator quite well.

If kimi was able to help with morale it could have been tha tiny bit extra that could have won the championship for massa
