Subject: Race Strategy
Introduction:
Following the recent scandal involving the Peugeot team I feel it prudent to bring into force a team-wide rule that will protect us against a similar situation occurring in the 2010 season.
In 2010 we enter F1 and bring with us true American values of
honesty, truth, justice and
freedom. As recent events have showed, our French cousins at Peugeot hold none of these values and have tarnished our sport. Fortunately for teams like TeamAmericaF1 and Mclaren that hold these values dear to our hearts, Peugeot have paid hard for their actions and are now banned for the next 2 years.
How does this affect us?
We will not make the same mistakes that Nelson Piquet, Flavio Briatore and Pete Symonds made. As such I propose a new company directive, effective immediately that will ensure we at TeamAmericaF1 do not expose ourselves.

The following are effective immediately:
Race Strategy:
- * No team member shall, at any point before or during a race weekend, discuss race strategy.
- * No team member shall discuss when we make a pitstop. This applies both before and during the race.
Pit Stops:
- * Pit stops will now be at the individual driver’s discretion. No discussion of when to pit will take place before or during the race.
- * If a driver feels he must pit the car to change his wheels then he does so by driving into the pit lane (below the mandatory limit, just to be sure).
- * Due to the above rule, all pit crew must remain in the pitlane with a new set of wheels for the entire duration of the race. This is non-negotiable.
Communications:
- * All communication from pit to driver must only concern general comments about his (or her) well-being, comments on the weather (not pertaining to how it may affect the race) and congratulations/commiserations should he/she succeed/fail.
- * All radio communication will be via CB radio. This method of communication is completely open not only to the FIA but to any spectator at the race or within a 200 mile radius. Our CAD team will be briefed on how to fit a six foot aerial into the design of the TAF101.
Accidents:
Should a Team America F1 driver be involved in an accident that brings out the safety car then the following action will be taken:
- * The offending driver will be reported immediately to the FIA under the charge of “Conspiring to fix the race result.” This is merely a cautionary measure to ensure that a full investigation is carried out by the stewards in order to clear the name of both the driver and the team.
- * The offending driver will be immediately suspended from all race, testing and promotional duties until such time that any FIA/steward enquiry finds in his/her favor.
- * The above also applies to any member of staff that has had verbal contact with the driver during the race weekend.

In Summary:
As a team, we have to be transparent.
More transparent than glass. I am currently working with our IT team to make sure that the entire set of designs for our 2010 cars is placed online. I believe doing this not only shows complete transparency but will also allow our competitors a chance to view our designs in detail and offer us some handy pointers going into our first season.
Remember, the only people who don’t obey rules are terrorists and the French and we are neither. We are Team America F1.
Thank you and good day to you,
