we're in trouble in slow corners and the setup will not change anything its car concept the car is made for high speed corners this week end only Sainz maybe can grab a point and we need a little bit luck there are at least 5 cars faster than usGround Effect wrote: ↑26 Jul 2019, 16:42We’ll get a better feel from the team in the FP report later. Don't count Norris out yet. He was doing a lot of testing and lost 0.5 sec to Sainz in S2 which indicates high df setup or conservative engine modes. Plus rain is forecast for Sunday so anything can happen.fouad1979 wrote: ↑26 Jul 2019, 16:56we're in trouble in slow corners and the setup will not change anything its car concept the car is made for high speed corners this week end only Sainz maybe can grab a point and we need a little bit luck there are at least 5 cars faster than usGround Effect wrote: ↑26 Jul 2019, 16:42We’ll get a better feel from the team in the FP report later. Norris is great no doubt but Sainz is faster in racepace this is i think the worst track for mclaren with budapest and singapore they 're going to suffer unfortunatelyM840TR wrote: ↑26 Jul 2019, 17:03Don't count Norris out yet. Their race pace was still strong, at least from what was reported...fouad1979 wrote: ↑26 Jul 2019, 16:56we're in trouble in slow corners and the setup will not change anything its car concept the car is made for high speed corners this week end only Sainz maybe can grab a point and we need a little bit luck there are at least 5 cars faster than usGround Effect wrote: ↑26 Jul 2019, 16:42We’ll get a better feel from the team in the FP report later. racepace in free practice is not a clear indicator our weakness is clear the slow corners and the 3 sector here we lost half s to Haas Renault and Racing point for me its clear this week end hope a wet race and some crashes from teams that are faster to get pointsGround Effect wrote: ↑26 Jul 2019, 17:10Their race pace was still strong, at least from what was reported...fouad1979 wrote: ↑26 Jul 2019, 16:56we're in trouble in slow corners and the setup will not change anything its car concept the car is made for high speed corners this week end only Sainz maybe can grab a point and we need a little bit luck there are at least 5 cars faster than usGround Effect wrote: ↑26 Jul 2019, 16:42

Race point, Haas, Alfa in 1:21 (although Kimi was all over the place).
Williams 1:22s
Merc was most consistently in the 1:18s but all 3 of the top teams were mostly in the 1:19s.
Did I miss anyone ?
Anything can happen in the rain, especially accidents. who know's what will happen.
Oh thx, looking at Albon's number, similar to Renault McLaren.Ground Effect wrote: ↑26 Jul 2019, 17:31STR?diffuser wrote: ↑26 Jul 2019, 17:21looks like race pace for both Renault and McLaren are in the low 1:20s.

The slow corners are in sector 2 though. Sector 3 is mid speed corners, as it starts right after the fast right hander. It comprises the banked left hander, and the stadium section which only has 2 actual right hand corners, you brake for the first and dance with the throttle on the second. I think the biggest problem with McLaren isn't slow corners per-se, rather it is agility in the low-mid speed consecutive corners. Not enough downforce to help point the car, and if they do put on enough downforce to point the car the balance become tricky at higher speeds, and they lose their incredible traction.
It's likely to rain both days, the question is a matter of timing, will it rain during the race, or during qualifying, and if it does will it rain more than once, or will it rain and dry. It's more accurate to say changing conditions are likely instead of just rain.
S2 has long straights though. S3 is just a series of low to mid speed corners. Plus understeer - a prominent deficit in the car - is also accentuated by the sweeping nature of the corners in S3 unlike the point & shoot ones in S2.godlameroso wrote: ↑26 Jul 2019, 17:43The slow corners are in sector 2 though.
